The Fighting Dinosaurs

These dinosaur fossils were found with the velociraptor's sickle claw lodged in the protoceratops' throat

This incredible fossil is called "The fighting dinosaurs" as it shows a Protoceratops andrewsi and a Velociraptor mongoliensis locked in combat at the time of their death.

Velociraptors were known to prey of Protoceratops and their young within the sand dunes of the Gobi desert 84 million years ago.The Protoceratops is shown using it's powerful beak-like mouth to crush the Velociraptor's forelimb.

While the Velociraptor is shown attempting to disembowel the Protoceratops using it's sickle claw, maneuvering it around the protective neck frill of the Protoceratops.

It is theorized that during the scuffle the sand dune collapsed instantly crushing them mid-combat and preserving their remains perfectly. This discovery is important as it shows predator-prey interaction of dinosaurs, while the highly motile sickle claw has been used as evidence to show the evolutionary relation of Dinosaurs and Birds. Plus who doesn't like to see dinosaurs fighting.
