Myth. It was never about "taxes". The Americans had paid taxes and struggled with Parliament for 15 years over taxes, it was nothing new, but when Parliament acted to removed local control of government and the courts from the citizens (The Intolerable Acts of 1774) that's when the Revolution really started. The British lost control of the countryside (where 95% of Massachusetts lived) and 7 months later the shooting started.

Uninformed bullshit. They were small landowners and farmers in western Massachusetts. Learn some REAL history. Yes, the wealthy eventually took over, and many were highly principled, but the real rebels were just pissed off guys who didn't want their courts and local officials hand picked in London. Learn about the "Intolerable Acts" and the "Powder Alarms".

Nope... if anything the UK protects its billionaires even more... gives them title and seats in the House of Lords and lets them dictate policy even harder... but they still have healthcare and zero people going into bankruptcy for getting sick.
