She loves her crate, it is only closed when we aren't home. It is where she naps and chews on chewies (they stain carpet)

I'm not saying you were cruel or anything. Just strange that she still has a crate at 4yo. Our GSD stopped using theirs at 8 months.

She is good for about 6 hours outside of it unsupervised...then she finds something to munch on she isn't supposed to, its for piece of mind

I have a 3year old Shepard that absolutely loves his crate. It's his safe zone. Used it when he was a puppy and never grew out of it
