The current space force service dress is the "next gen uniform" that was only just approved for use earlier this year. The fact that it was just approved means it's highly improbable that they will change away from it any time soon. If the intention is the change it then it would need to be added to an NDAA and then spend the next 3 to 6 years in development and procurement.

I don't see it that way. Influenced by the post-World War II United States, Heinlein's early works are distinctly anti-communist and pre-fascist in tone. But he gradually moved away from that and eventually went on to write a few good books.

Although I appreciate the author for his later works, I view the novel *Starship Troopers* as a depiction of a fascist form of society, characterized by authoritarianism, militarism, and anti-individualism. Heinlein was serious about it. There are no signs of irony, satire, or sarcasm.

My impression across his body of work was a series of genuine attempts to examine various ideologies on their own terms, which generally means looking for satire or irony is the wrong lense to bring to his books in general. I've never gotten the impression that SST is explicitly intended to glorify fascism, but being written from the perspective of a character steeped in that system definitely requires detaching from him a bit to actually analyze the events and policies portrayed. The opening of the book with the raid against the Skinnies is a good example. It's written as fast paced military action but it's explicitly portraying a terror raid against a civilian population, a monstrous act made acceptable to Rico by his belief in the system he's been indoctrinated into. It's not the brick to head tier satire of Verhoven's adaptation, but IMO the book's examination of fascism still subjects it to critique due the fact it's an inherently flawed and monstrous ideology.
