I lost two in one night by shutting a manual garage door on my hand. It took a few weeks before the nails came back, but no infection for me

yikes... I mean wash and use some kind of antibiotic cream, but that might never come back properly, or it will take quite some time.

Don't pick at it, keep it clean, and it should grow back just fine... happened to my toe and pointer, and grew back normally

Please try not to mess with it for purposes other than cleaning and disinfecting. If you feel the urge to mess with it, cover with a bandaid

Nah you'll be fine it'll almost certainly be grown back in a month. A friend of mine once accidentally chopped her nail off with a table saw
