Meet Oola. ::Update!:: Hiccup is coming home tomorrow! Pictures will be pending!
She's got a bit of a story to tell.
:::UPDATE:::
Thank you, everyone, you know who you are and I'll be embarassing your butts tomorrow when I share Hiccup with all of Imgur.
TDLR: Kitten pair found on side of road, thrown from a vehicle, vetblahblahblah
She's a little scrawny, bony and a little starved at the moment, but every hour she keeps getting better.
If she looks a little sad, that's because her, and her brother were found (we nearly ran him over) in the middle of the road at 3am, dragging his leg. They were both starved and very near complete dehydration. They're barely 3 months old. They're both already litter trained, and very calm kitties. Very sweet.
This is her look when we told her that we took her brother to the vet. We don't have any pictures of him because we took him straight there. His back right leg is broken, and it's been determined that they were thrown from a vehicle. I have been surprised with a very, very large vet bill that won't accept payment plans and I really don't want the sweet little guy to be put to sleep. (The receptionist hinted at it, I'm pretty devastated.) The vet assured me that the cost for today would be around $90-110, and now it's 4x that and they won't even let me see x-ray results, nor the sweet little guy.
If she wasn't wriggling so much, you would be able to see her tiny, tiny jelly beans in all that floof. I have never had a cat this floofy in the paws before. Her brother, Hiccup (Named so because he cannot meow, and he can't walk due to the leg) is silver and cream, striped exactly as she is. He is beautiful and I wish I could show you a picture of the pretty fluffball. His tail is much thicker, but her tail is like a lemurs, and is almost as long as her body.
She really misses her brother. She keeps poking around, squeaking her little squeak. (She's having trouble meowing due to dehydration). We set up a GiveForward account, which I won't list here, but if you want, you can message if you want to donate to help me rescue him. Or you can search GiveForward for Hiccup. I hate that I can't give everything right up front. It isn't fair to these little guys that no one wanted them, and the person that does, can't make payments because the only vet in the area doesn't believe in it or trading labor. I've volunteered at enough vets offices in my years that this is really, really strange for a practice. Thanks for reading Oola and Hiccup's story if you got this far.

Found you! Hoping it helps.

More than you know. Thank you.

Vet isn't a douche bag for wanting to be paid for their work, they'd go bankrupt pretty quickly otherwise
Sevulturus
Story also says they were quoted 90-110 then charged 4x that.
CookieMonstersCrumbs
It's not that we're wanting to deprive him of his fair wages. Please read before jumping to conclusions. Or don't, I'm not your mom.
NotSureWhatUsernameToUse
I didn't jump to conclusions, but you have by calling the vet a douche for needing to be paid.
chesterfeildsofa
hes a douche for caring more about money than the cats life. They could work with the guy and set up a payment plan vs. euthanize him
CookieMonstersCrumbs
No, never said anything about being a douche for payment. I am speaking of extra costs that weren't discussed, nor agreed upon. Ethics.
ThisIsFrigglish
It's that they refused to accept a payment plan, breaking the bill into several equal and easier to manage portions. Read, THEN snipe?
NotSureWhatUsernameToUse
I didn't snipe, and I did read, if you were aware how many people make payment plans, but then don't pay, you might understand. I'm sorry 1/
NotSureWhatUsernameToUse
for the kitty, sorry you can't pay upfront, but that doesn't make the vet a douche. 2/2
Lynexia
Quoting a price and changing it after the problem is solved makes him a douche. It's called profiteering and it's illegal.
NotSureWhatUsernameToUse
right, it wasn't because more things needed to be done than expected? Because life always works exactly as planned?
Lynexia
Take the X-ray. Charge for X-ray. Tell owner what needs to be done. Tell owner how much it costs. Advise if the charge isn't a set fee. 1
Lynexia
What you need to understand is that these people are the professionals. We need to be able to rely on their judgement.
Lynexia
If owner agrees still go ahead. Don't just tell someone it's 100 and then go do a bunch of extra shit without consulting them.
MydeslyxiasFunnyToMe
The reason why they don't do that is so they don't go out of bankrupt from not getting paid on time, or at all.
