Ours is the uncertainty!
The symbol of House Targaryen . we have all looked at it in-the-least seven hundred and seventy seven times by now. From this image we are lead to draw ideas like, a close nit family, an inseparable dynasty, and yet I submit to you this could be a fundamental hint by a writer known for taking ideas for multiple sources, and being inspired towards new things.
The Chimera, noticeably not a Dragon.
Head of a Lion, head of a Goat, tail and head of Snake....... And 100% Fire Breather! Because even old myths aren't original!
This gave rise to the coomon place useage and idea of Chimeraisum.
Here we have a meice, with what should hopefully be easy to see chimerism. Infact if you have a Tortous sheild cat, you are looking at a type of chimera.
Chimerism, put very simply, and I hate to reduce facts, but I'll sunspear you to much reading. Allows a living animal, or person, to have more than 2 parents. It is far more common than you think, and unless there was any noticeable issues, you might never suspect! I or you could have parts of ourselves (and statistically we do), from not the majoritive or what you might consider yourself, fetal line!
So now we are back to a magical world, A song of Ice and fire. Two things that cannot coexist side by side, but in the margins bring balance, perhaps even peace?
And instead of leading you threw, holding your hand, allow me to question you too epiphany.
In a world where a girl can die, and be reborn a dragon queen with three baby dragons. Is a simplistic view of maternity a good one to hold on to?
Given everything we think we know of Targaryens, are we sure that they are infact, human? We have Children of the forest, the Others, Murderous Shadow babies. Many creatures that can look human, might even on some level be human, but also seem dependent on humans.
What IF and it is a big IF! Targaryens keep their bloodlines close and pure because they are prone to being mixed? What if Targaryens traits would run rampant through a population like wildfire? and when you have dragons.. you want to keep them to yourself.
What IF Targaryens seed will piggyback on anothers child?
A tinfoil sights his imagies

Your sentence structure gave me cancer

Kind of falls apart when you consider that targs are just one of hundreds of valyrian bloodlines still in existence. Most in volantis or lys
xa22
Does it or do they just not know how to use their dragonblood?
EnTaroTassadar42
I dont think the blood guarantees magic over dragons. Plenty of targs never bonded or rode with them.
EnTaroTassadar42
Also some targs had magic that showed in other ways.. several have been able to see the future in their dreams
EnTaroTassadar42
Like jojen reed could
xa22
Jojen gets his blood from the Children. The only non mixed race we can have some certainty of is the Andels...
EnTaroTassadar42
What about the rhoynar? What are they mixed with?
EnTaroTassadar42
And why do you feel certain the andals havent mixed with anything
xa22
But it seems the most important part of Magic is belief and Desperation.....
EnTaroTassadar42
No i think the most important part of grrms magic is sacrifice. "Only blood may pay for life"
