My job desperately needs a morale officer.

“You must suffer so wealth can exist.”
That was dedicated to every “suck it up” motivational phrase I see.

It’s amazing how sometimes in these these threads you’re like yeah, yeah, yeah, I know all this. And then one quote or image jumps out at you and is just what you needed in that moment. Thanks Imgurian for this.

#14 For sure. I'm never doing enough for them. Never.

#5 what if the person you love broke while you were with her? (Idtimta)
Wheretheheckisjason
I’m the opposite. My ex wife (divorcing tomorrow as a matter of coincidence) broke me. But her faults aren’t mine to fix. All I need to work on is me.

#1 What gives you the right to rub this in my face sir?
Wheretheheckisjason
I’d provide boobies to rub in your face, but can’t seem to find any for myself just now.

#14 - This actually came up in a recent session for me. "Part of mental health is acting in accordance with your values".

Mine too.

#4 I've always hated that phrase. Death is always the inevitable end. And it's rarely good. Maybe I'm biased because I'm 52 and a LOT of my friends and loved ones aren't here any more.
Wheretheheckisjason
It’s not meant as a truism, but as a hope giver. Have hope. I’m also that age (52 in a couple months) and have depression. But little bits of hope help me, so I’m trying to help others.

Dying might be shitty, being dead is not. Just best not to have too many regrets if you know youre about to die.
LittleDragon
Everything is not okay in the end. If it's really the end, everyone you love or loves you is dead.
geraltofriva
Oh come on.
LittleDragon
Sorry to break it to you, but no one gets out alive.
Bulmero8
From your point of view it will be okay though, cause you'll be dead and have no problems

#6 some people need growth, some need status quo, don't belittle people who have found a niche they like and want to sit in it.
Anjistique
Thank you for this comment
myloveforyouislikeatruckberserker
I agree, and a lot of these are very open to interpretation, so just for arguments sake.. even if you find a niche that you’re happy in, you will inevitable grow, and learn. And if you really are stuck doing the same exact thing, day after day, which teaches you nothing, is that really something to defend or is that what you would call ‘a rut’. But ultimately, sure everyone do what you like if it doesn’t hurt anyone, I’ll take a hard and uphill journey that takes me somewhere higher
noWhiteHorseHereJustBatturuPrinsu
Agree. Also telling people with clinical depression that life has ups and downs and things will get better is just cruel.
Wheretheheckisjason
I disagree. I have clinical depression and find the reminders from my therapist that there will be days when I’m down and days when I’m up and that’s ok to be reassuring.
notsureofanything
I always think these dumps are funny because inevitably they contradict itself. The “cut the toxic people out of your life” has two stories I have seen on Imgur. It’s either “I have depression and everyone left me” and the comments will say “what monsters your friends are!!!” Or “my friend is just using me and I get nothing in return for this relationship” And every comment is “they are toxic cut them out!”. In general, I have found toxic is actually a symptom of mental crisis
Wheretheheckisjason
I think the belittling comment is your interpretation. Even if I’m digging the status quo, there’s room for self growth.
MsBehavinMaven
@op one can post things like this with the best intentions and some folks will still react negatively if it hits a raw nerve for them. Rest assured there’s plenty in this dump to comfort and inspire others.

We lived near an old couple (I think in their 50's) and they had both retired to look after the roses and offer afternoon tea to wandering strangers.
Past a certain point, contentment is a gift worthy of experiencing.

Agreed, but it must not be mistaken stagnation.

I was trying to find a good quote or something but I couldn't, so here's an elephant baby.

It's your job to get rid of that bitterness for the same reasons it would be your job to get a poison arrowhead out of your leg.
