I am always surprised at how some people can be nauseated by smells. I have been exposed to all manner of disgusting smells, but nothing has ever made me gag.
Same, with a single exception. I was in a hospital room with a patient who had C. diff (Clostridioides difficile). The doctor tilts their bed, so the head is up and feet are down, and the ...slurry... just pours out of them and down to the floor. The smells was like nothing else, my eyes were burning, and I felt I had to leave immediately or I would vomit.
It happens. I once had to fight pooping on a walk with every fiber of my being. I practically crawled to the gas station because I couldn't poop in a random stranger's side yard
It hit me in the grocery store once. I had to stand there with my cart just standing still, not even really close to any food to make it look like I was browsing. Just locked up praying to God...
They're over the fact the bitch filmed her, posted it online, didn't blur her face and said her name. She was worried about being seen by some dog walkers, how do you think she feels about being exposed to the whole fking internet.
Nah, dude. Some days I have two bowel movements (BMs). One comes after my first coffee and is fairly solid, and the other comes after my second coffee and that is, well, it’s a crime against humanity (and toilet bowls).
That would be embarrassing, especially if she was named and some sleuthing could likely figure out where she was (ish) and do facial rec against database of laurie's.
It's so fucking weird to me how carcentric the US is. So many communities are anti bicycle, anti e-bike, anti bus, anti train, anti electric vehicles, anti almost fucking everything else that isn't a gas guzzling car - except then communities like this embrace god-damn golf carts to zip round their neighborhood.
You aren't wrong but how are you getting this from this video? Picking someone up on a bike or e-bike isn't really comfortable, a bus is precisely the publicity she wanted to avoid and they're literally driving around in an electric vehicle.
As a USian, trust me, same. It's fuckin *weird*, I know it's a thing, I hear about these places and there's plenty of videos, but I've never once lived in these sorts of communities. I'm not even against it, I'd rather an electric moped or the like to go shopping in, stuff like that, but it's never been an option where I've lived.
Ok, but in this particular case you have to admit that the golf cart is the optimal means of transport. Bicycle, electric car, bus--none are ideal for someone who pooped their pants and wants to control and minimize the situation. This is where European-style infrastructure falls flat. For people who have pooped their pants, America is the greatest country on earth.
If you've never been here, I guess that makes sense. We have very little public transport, a lot of our states are bigger most European nations, and the sprawl is enormous. Look up "The Streetcar Conspiracy", basically in the early 20th century a group of car, oil, and tire companies got together to dismantle all public transportation in cities to drive sales of their products. Most street car companies at the time generated their own power, and most sold the excess to consumers. The first 1/2
step was to get legislation passed that a company couldn't run both a street car company and a utility company at once. Since selling electricity was way more profitable all the street car companies started to divest in their transportation side. The second step was to create a series of shell companies that would buy up the street car systems and dismantle them and destroy them. Combined with highways and suburbs that are 30+ miles from where people work, public transportion became untenable2/2
A long time ago, someone pointed out that we aren't addicted to cars because of the sprawl, but we have sprawl because of early embracing of cars. That lives rent free in my head. (Your comment sort of touches on why it happened.)
Sprawl was a multifaceted issue. Cars and highways enabled people who were living in cities to relocate to the suburbs to larger homes/property, but also it was happening during a time of civil unrest which some people were trying to avoid. This caused the collapse of property value in those cities and the outskirts collapsed into the city centers. Which is why some cities still struggle with crime and property values to this day. But also, America is fucking big.
I'm American in the US. Good points but sorry, "it's different here" isn't really true. It's only different because we have allowed it to be, removed bike lanes, set stupid zoning laws and refused to build public transit. We don't have busses because we didn't bother building them. Once the US was the bicycle capital of the world and streetcars worked fine until they were illegally killed. It's normal to commute 30+ miles for work by train in most countries, but we simply don't have trains.
Nah, dummy - you didn't read _my_ reply. Your "But Mah Sprawl" / "Murica Big" is a stupid and invalid argument. The streetcars worked. The railroads worked. Trains built the US. Trains as rapid transit between city centers and urban areas with connecting bus routes work everywhere else in the world. These systems were not dismantled in the US because they were failures. You are a defeatist status quoist with no imagination if you think "America big sprawl" is why we don't have public transit.
