If you see one of these things running at you like this, pray to whatever god you believe in, because very little else can save you.

Why is called that?

First off, you're an idiot. It's a Mastiff used in Tibet. Second, they're often used as guard dogs, and are known to be tenacious in dealing with wolves. You would be a piece of cake. Or dinner.

Maybe it isn't so bad.

Let me put it this way. They run faster than you. They weigh as much as you. I've seen some that were three feet high on all fours. And they're used to dealing with prey that can effectively fight back or run decently. You lose unless you are well armed.

This one looks pretty cool.

Yeah, I guess. This one's called a Rhodesian Ridgeback. For you who don't know, Rhodesia was where Zimbabwe is now. Yes, this breed came from Africa.

What's that?

That's the ridge. On their back. That's where the name comes from. Interestingly enough, the fur on that ridge run opposite to the rest of their fur. Where normally it runs head to tail, this one runs from tail to head. And I know you might think they aren't that scary...

They hunt lions.

Let that sink in for a moment. These dogs hunt lions. And they were bred specifically for that purpose. So treat your dog with a little respect.

Dogs are descended from wolves, for crying out loud.

Hopefully they aren't descended from wolves like Moon Moon here.
