It's a long video but there is a payoff at the end.
Carson_bender didn't get a turkey, but he did get a legendary bap-pap (and did go to the hospital out of caution but only had shallow scratches)

Still waiting for the pay off

I’m glad the bobcat looked like it was just curious. Trying to be stealthy when a cat can see you is a good way to make any cat want to “hunt” you. Even if the hunt is just a couple slaps from your house cat.
MapleSyrupMafia
Trying to play dead with something that is usually scared of humans is... an interesting choice.

TrumpRapesAndEatsChildren0002
What a cuddly kitty.
drGrafenberg
Stand up and it would make itself go away post haste.
0p12
The internets have taught me that having your back to a wild cat is typically a bad strategy…
unless you’re trying to be licked.
rattytom
Skippity PAPs!!!
MadameTiffany
"Weird! It looks like something is kind of there and I do smell something." /Bapscratch "Oh, now if makes sense!"
BarnegatLight
Pretty much, yeah.
zenprime
Come on... Domesticate yourself... Come on... You can do it... Domesticate yourself.... ACK!
FlyingTigerRose
That bobcat was so fast - I was watching the video and literally blinked and it had made its move already. That guy is SO lucky. Coulda gone so wrong so fast...
Toodamagedtocare
That good ole skippity pap !! 😸
MrStealUrMeme
Could he have saved himself a few scratches by standing up? Yes, but it sounds like there was a whole mess of turkeys pretty close and that Bobcat running like hell away from him would scare every single turkey away. Also, he would have deprived himself from one hell of a story he'll tell for the rest of his life, and a great video to back it up.
Feralkyn
It's gonna run away in either case. It's just a matter of leaning over and looking at it so it knows you're there.
MrVaderSkywalker
She didn't use her claws, that cat was friendly. Maybe she had kitten nearby or she need food
Feralkyn
That cat absolutely used its claws and the hunter had to get checked out/disinfected. That was a heavy, hard smack from an animal disturbed by an unknown threat in its environment; it could not SEE the human. It just knew something was there and wanted to know what, and was upset.
Noahbalboa82
Common sense would have been to scare it off before it got close. But then again, the sheer curiosity.... Very tempting. I may have done the same
AdroitCudgel
what stupid people wouldn't do for a moment of clout!
IjustsaywhatIthink
I was tracking some wolves near my place and people wanted to know why I didn't have a gun with me. I felt comfortable that they would be afraid of me but also thought; what an awesome way to die...a Legends of The Fall kind of thing. But alas, they were moving away too quickly.
dtcb131415
hold still....
......gotcha
WowSoSparkly
i love the quick glances at the phone (from the cat)
WarThunderLeakedMySpecs
I feel like maybe making your presence known would have been a better choice but also I have three cats and I understand.
thinkybrainpains
SKIPPITY PAP MUTHERFUCKER think I can’t see you?
Isthe4thtimethecharm
I would have been afraid to scare the kitty.
jetact12
Speak up tell the kitty go play some where else
mymustachecallstheshots
If they had popped out yelling and advancing that thing woud have bolted. Ambush predators dont like it when its not their ambush anymore.
M34665
esp when they see the target is much bigger than they are
Thickinthewarm
If not friend, why friend shaped
MrsSlavicHorse
Considering there’s a flock of hens with what sounds like at least two gobblers… yeah I’d sit tight too lol. Is this guy showing up what ended up not bringing in a turkey?
GhostTater
He posted a follow-up saying that within 15 minutes of the cat "incident" the Tom showed and he completely missed it at 30 yards, which is when he decided to give up and go get the scratches checked out.
MrsSlavicHorse
Oof, rough, but a cool story: “yo man whats with your face?” “Oh I got those turkey hunting” “hot damn didn’t realize turkeys were that vicious”

PutItInNeutral
Zero attempt to scare it off. Probably would have saved the baps.
JohnThatcher
Look, I don't care if I get some scratches. If I get to be touched by a bobcat, I'm *going* to be touched by a bobcat.
georgejimmydoodle
He has a gun ffs! I'm not saying shoot the cat, but he could have made a very scary noise.
PonyMadness
It's just a bobcat. If he would have simply stood up, it would have ran off.
ultradongle
Yeap. Just make a loud noise and it would have bolted away. This was done on purpose.
torquemada90
it was for the gram
lyralyon
Aren't you supposed to make direct eye contact with cats who are stalking? To let them know you see them?
applesforjuice
I grew up in Colorado, rangers came to our school to teach us. Look big, throw something if you don't have to bend down (pinecones off a tree or something) and yell. Don't turn your back or step back. A mountain lion lived right behind my house she was training her cubs to hunt so dogs went missing i found a dogs head and a deer carcass in my backyard. One killed 5 of my friends goats only took one, once they go into kill mode they kill everything moving in the area. Had to put that one down.
Corrodias
For safety, yes. I guess either this person didn't know that or didn't feel threatened.
JohnThatcher
There is a big difference between a bobcat and a mountain lion. Against a healthy adult human, a bobcat might fuck you up, but is highly unlikely to kill. And that's assuming the bobcat is in "murder the shit out of you at all costs" mode and not just "investigate the strange thing" mode.
Corrodias
Unlikely to kill, yes, but I wouldn't want to test it, as I'm not keen even on getting fucked up. They say the winner of a knife fight dies in the hospital.
Feralkyn
Yeah a domestic cat! can cause SERIOUS harm. Like, deep lacerations with severe infections if they really go all-out, which we don't often see because they pull their punches unless they're ferals, for the most part. These guys are much bigger.
I don't think her life was in danger but I wouldn't have waited for it to smack me; it was clearly GOING to, because it's seeing something that's "wrong" in its environment and investigating via cat smack.
flarflarf
a housecat will do the same thing, this is a poorly planned way to meet & greet a bobcat
CharlesTooke
Or any wild animal with hundreds of times your ability to see, hear and smell.
WellThatsJustWhatWeCallPillowTalkBaby
Yup, that wasn't an attack-that was a "whatdafuckareyou?" bapbap.
shitheadtookmyname
I'm so used to camo meaning Ukraine I was ready to mention that bobcats are a cat only in North America
CE0485
I…..I don’t think that there is a good way to meet and greet a bobcat……it’s a bobcat and if red dead has taught me anything……
Isthe4thtimethecharm
I don't remember Bobcats in red dead. Just cougars and the panthers.
CE0485
Both had them
GhostTater
For example, being too familiar can be perceived as rudeness...It's robertcat until he tells you otherwise.
zqwzzle
I think you mean Robert Feline
IntelligentLake
I think you mean Mister Robert Feline. Don't want to seem rude.
Clayman8
It could be Ms Felicia Roberta, we shouldnt label so hastily.

But what if they have a matters or PhD?
