This is Sierra. She's a very good girl. We got her as a hospice foster fail over 6 years ago. We fell in love right away and adopted her and got her symptoms under control with the help of some vet specialists so she's been *relatively* healthy for a while now (some chronic issues that we manage with diet and meds, but generally she's feeling great and enjoying getting spoiled).

She even played her first DnD game this past weekend

She's the friendliest pup you'll ever meet -- she loves every person, dog, cat, raccoon, etc she's ever met (especially once she got settled and we showed her that she'd never be abused by her former owners again - now she's not scared of men at all anymore)

Couldn't care less about the neighbor's cat watching her eat dinner.

She loves food, and is pretty deaf so it's easy to sneak kibble like this (had to have an ear canal removed almost 2 years ago and she's laying on the good ear)

She's the sweetest, chillest girl ever. She had to have her gallbladder removed earlier this summer, and during that process the vets noticed a mass on her liver. It was cancer, so they removed that too, with much success. We got clear margins and it was the "removal is usually curative" type so we thought we'd be in the clear with her for a couple more years at least before it came back, allowing her to age well into her golden years before there was any more trouble (she's maybe 10ish).

But a routine follow up today indicated another mass on her liver. We got lucky last time that it was on the "easy to operate on" side. Not so much this time, and this one looks fibrous so not a great candidate for surgery. We've decided to do a CT scan and a needle biopsy on Thursday to see if we can figure out what it is, but our options are limited and this thing popped up out of nowhere so it seems aggressive. The prognosis is not good, likely just palliative care, and I'm worried that I don't have much time left with my girl. I'm not going to be ok if something happens to her. Thankfully we are fortunate and have savings to afford her care, but money can't stop cancer.

Please send all the good vibes her way. She's such a special little nugget. <3 We are heartbroken.

Thanks <3 There's not much else to do at this point, I appreciate kind thoughts at least even if it doesn't change the outcome.

She looks like such a sweetie! I'm sure she's adored being loved by you and your family. What good care you've given her, and all of these extra years she's had! We can hope for the best and you'll always have your memories of her!

Thanks for the kind words, we've done everything we can to give her the most amazing life and I think she knows she's spoiled. I'm just not ready yet, after all the trauma from the gallbladder and liver cancer over the summer - resulting in a very successful procedure - I'd gotten it in my head that we'd at least have another year with her. Now I'm not sure. She'll be spoiled to the end no matter what though. <3

Thanks, and yes, I have no regrets in that regard, she's been nothing short of spoiled and loved and she will be for every day she has left to give us. <3

Olive is sending good vibes to Sierra! She also wants Sierra to teach her how to play DND.

Thanks <3 I think they would get along very well, and Sierra would love to teach her all she knows (which is almost exclusively "DnD has snacks")

all you can do is give your puppers the best life you can, if you do that, you did a good job

I know, thank you for the kind words. We truly have given her an amazing spoiled life with so much love and treats and adventures. We got her health managed and gave her more years than most would have been able to afford or put in the work getting her into specialists to get her chronic illness diagnosed.
I have no regrets, I'm just not ready to lose her. She's my baby.

I'm so sorry to hear about your poochie, OP. We also received the bad cancer news about our 16-year-old girl a few months ago. We've had her on three different chemos now, but she has really deteriorated in the past week. Our little creatures are so precious that it seems unconscionable that they should have to go through something like this. My sweet girl is an older lady and we'll be looking at palliative measures soon, but I hope yours can pull through and give you more years. ❤️

Yeah, unfortunately we had to say goodbye to her in November. It was really tough. I'm sorry that you're going through it now with your baby, they never deserve to feel pain. <3 Fuck cancer.
