Like a bad joke told for the fifteenth time by an unfunny coworker who both hates bathing and is convinced he's a comedic genius, unemployment due to circumstances beyond my control is a lot less funny each time it comes around.

The long and short of it is this: I was hired. They thought they had money for my position. They didn't. Three weeks ago I was told to find a new position. Spoiler alert: I wasn't able to.

I am aware that there are others who have it worse than me, and mine is not the book of Job. I do feel justified in being annoyed in that I was told there would be a place for me, and ultimately finding out that wasn't the case.

Having done this routine several times before, I know it's a numbers game. Eventually someone is desperate enough to take me on, we do the onboarding dance, and things move forward. I don't have to get lucky with every application, just one.

I suppose it goes without saying my donations to charitable endeavors will be stifled until I can find employment again, per the contract with God.

Pardon my venting. Please send good vibrations towards my job hunt. The NEET life is not for me.

It's more like the book of Unemployment, right guys?

Man.. I feel you, I'm struggling right now too. It just makes me feel like nothing after doing interviews and no call backs. Guess I'll die

Next time: Before accepting the job, ask to see the hiring requisition.

Okay, I'll knock it off with these negative waves and be hopeful for a change. It's beautiful out here and you'll make it.

The suffering of others does not lessen your own suffering.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good luck. Hope you find a job.

Why does someone have to be desperate to take you on? Seems like you don't value yourself, we filter our opportunities based on our beliefs.

What line of work are you in? Can we help you in any way?!

Plenty of times I've come into jobs that have tons of work, weeks of projects, only to have client decide to end it suddenly and I'm cut. 1/

It happens so often I stipulate I keep my night job. It becomes either 60 hr or 20 hr workweeks now but I now constantly have a paycheck 2/2

Sometimes there is legal recourse for this kind of thing depending on where you live. I am not a lawyer, but promissory estoppel may apply.

As of December I am back with my old company where I worked in 2002. I didn’t want to leave, but this planet is fucked up. Cheers.

Was laid off from the company I would have spent the rest of my career with back in September. I'm still looking for a job. I hope you

get something quicker than me, friend. Losing everything I've worked hard for to greed and shitty leadership sucks ass.

I start a new job next Monday and I've been jittery about the rug being pulled out from beneath me since I got the offer 3 weeks ago.

Go to http://www.findhelp.org/ for anything having to do with survival, including food, shelter, and bill assistance. US only.

Sorry to hear that. I'd hire you, just the attitude of having a great job is one of the things I look for in my employees. Makes for a 1/2

You can plead your need on https://www.modestneeds.org/index.asp. That'll put you in front of folks that help folks out.

Thank you, but I'm not in *need* yet. I just need to find a job at the moment. But appreciated.

I'm not massive on God, but I respect anyone with morals, faith or not. You will have some skills you could utilise to become self employed.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I see the thing is you're relying on God for a worldly problem. One is tangible the other is not. You put in your faith in something as such

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is a ludicrous ill advised idea. Continuing to drag a misguided faith into your life situation is only going to worsen it. Not to mention

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The entitlement that seeps off of your post is also disgusting.

I want to vent too. I am a freelance writer with special expertise in explainer video scripts but I have no work since last year.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I feel you , I worked here a year and they told me that $$ they had for the job is gone by EOM. I've got time, but Damn, I liked this Job!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was nice to be able to work remote 99% of the time for one and I didn't have to drive on Ice and snow for almost a whole season!!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just because other people are worse off doesn't mean you're not suffering. Vent all you need to!

I'm sorry you're going thru this, again. I hope you land a great job, soon.

Weren't they complaining about a week ago that "NoBoDy wAnTs tO WoRk"? Apparently that was a lie.

3 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 5

They're not saying the quiet part at the end. Full statement is "Nobody wants to work... for what we're willing to pay."

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

After digging deeper, the employer behind said statement has some steep conditions. Away from home most of the year. Physically taxing, etc

3 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

I’m on 17 layoffs. Loving my current job but I know it won’t last forever.

3 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Alright 17 sounds high. Mind me asking what industry you work in?

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Aviation

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Are you sure they weren't layovers?

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Bruh, don't feel bad about being the victim of capitalism. You owe charity fuck all. You're a normal person suffering with the lot of us.

3 years ago | Likes 311 Dislikes 7

When I say charity I mean legitimate righteous endeavors- like St. Judes and @TheFreePizzaDude .

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Nah man I know, but we're in tough times, all of us are a paycheck away from using our boy MrPuckett. Take care of yourself first.
