Grammatically both are correct, semantically only one makes sense. I feel it's helping, since it only knows the rules of English.

think of the apostrophe as a missing letter. It's = it is. Don't= do not. Ma'am = madam. Whereas "its" is the third person possessive, so:

2nd person possesive is his, hers. 3rd is its. all the possessive pronouns have an s at the end.
