This is Alfie. My fiance and I both volunteer at a Cattery as 'cat cuddlers' (it's amazing). We met this old fella the second week in, and he was just so sweet. He was completely blind and quite an old man at 12 years old. The people at the Cattery found him wandering without a collar or chip by Morrisons (a supermarket, for all non-UK folk) so they named him Morris. We had to go away for a week but said we would adopt him when we got back. Coming home after a holiday, we were excited to love him forever, and renamed him Alfie (we thought that suited him better). However, on the way home I called the Cattery and they informed me that sadly our poor kitty-to-be had to be put to sleep due to sudden health complications. We were distraught. It's been a few weeks now, and we think of him a lot. We went back to the Cattery to get back into our volunteering roles, and I'm sure in the future we will find another kitty for our forever home. In the mean time, I just wanted to share this awesome gentleman with the Imgur community.
TLDR: about to adopt a blind cat, cat has to be put down a few days before we planned to bring him back. Very sad.

From now I propose that all dead pet posts be paid for with a happy/cute pet tax.

:'( Keep on volunteering, @OP! Plenty of kitties out there in need of a home!

Indeed! It's so lovely to spend time with them. I'll definitely take at least one home, one day!
