I took my kid to the slopes today. Started with holding her between my legs. Which is fine as a start, but I do everything for her, and she's just a passive participant. I bought a harness so she could actually stand on her own two legs (they had a small shop with goggles, gloves, etc. next to the rental), and off we went.
Managed to get a recording on one of the flatter parts. At this point she's singing (you can't hear it over the wind and the snow anyways, so I stripped the audio). On the faster parts she was shrieking from joy. And the harness was a real godsend; before I bought it the idea of taking a single turn on her own on even the flattest parts almost made her panic. But with it she's mostly in control, with me as backup for safety. Which means she's free to just let loose and have fun.
This has probably been the best day of the year so far for me. I just want to shout from the rooftops. So that's what I'm doing now.

Getting a tow from your kid

Used to have my boys hold onto my ski poles when we did that. It was always a joy when they let go to try it on their own. Good on you. +1

Giving the kid the control in the moment over letting go has its merits too. But this way I know beyond any reasonable doubt that I can stop her, should I need to. I went without poles today, I needed my hands for other things.

Old fart here; the best parts of my life typically have something to do with my kid, including getting bitten by her demon-cat.

I have had non-kid-related highs too, to be sure. But I love my kids, and watching them progress and grow up is just marvelous.
