The US has lost an amazing and brilliant Justice today at 87. I hate to make her death political, but this started back in 2016 with Scalia's death.

Short version is that Senate Republicans wanted to see if they could get a conservative judge instead of the moderate liberal that had been proposed by Obama.
I'm not holding my breath for them to have any scruples left...

I doubt they'd have enough votes. Collins might have learned her lesson but her reelection is shaky. Mitt might hold out as well.
