Diann and I left for Waco to attend the parade and celebration for the Baylor basketball team’s NCAA national championship.
The road from Fort Stockton to Eldorado was pretty empty.
When we stopped for a few things in Brady, we ran into this woman in the Walmart parking lot with her dog in a motorcycle side car.
That motorcycle is a Ural, a Russian-made bike. I have no idea how she got one out in Brady, TX, but there she was with it, all tricked out, and even googles for her dog!
Yes, the dog had custom-made Goggles!
Arrived in Waco and stayed with my first cousin Mary Helen, and her husband, Sam.
Headed down to the Waco City Hall for the end of the parade and the celebration. We sat on the patio of Coach’s XXX Barbecue, right by the parade route.
Met this guy named Murray who was taking it all in. We struck up a friendship for the next two hours, based on our mutual fandom for the Baylor Bears.
Good crowd on hand. They filled up the area by City Hall and lined the parade route. A mix of students, fans and families giving the "Sic 'em, Bears" sign.
Our favorite float was the giant, HEB shopping cart. Pretty cool, although it looks a little top heavy.
And a shot of the crowd.
Although if you’ve seen one parade crowd you’ve seen them all.
Got up Wednesday morning to a wonderful breakfast cooked by Mary Helen, then we began the drive back home to the ranch.
It was gray and overcast, with hardly any cars on the road.
Arrived home safely, with Sunny and Gunner ready to eat!!!
Good time, good trip. Never thought I would hear "Baylor" and "National Champions" in the same sentence, but here we are!!!
