At least now I can stop wondering which neighbors are letting their dogs crap in my yard without picking it up. And I understand why our cat doesn't want to take walks outside with us anymore. He and his brethren and cisterns (?) have been making a racket at night too.

You're lucky to have seen this one so close. Coyoties are super skittish, and try to avoid human interaction.

They're getting very bold here. This pic was taken this AM just about dawn by a neighbor driving by. She said the coyote didn't back off even with the car right next to it.
