Reminds about the one about someone's grandfather dying in Auschwitz: they fell out of the guard tower and broke their neck.

Their grandfather on the other side of the family was responsible for downing 50 German fighters; worst airplane mechanic they had.

Oh man my gf back in the day had one of those IEDs. Never quite understood how it worked, but she never gor pregnant, so it was cool I guess

No blasting inside her, eh?

Sounds like indeed he could.

But he found it even if it was the last thing he did.

I've started looking 2-3 more places after finding the thing, just to fuck with people who say that.

Certainly was in this case.

He was surprised to find it there.

Dude... When I was in Boot, one of the days we were trained on explosives they showed us this little OD green pyramid with a little OD green ribbon hanging off it; looked like a keychain. It was a fucking cluster bomb. As the pyramid fell, the ribbon would flap back and forth in the wind. Once the ribbon flapped a certain number of times: boom. Then they told us the story of a soldier that brought one home and hung it from the rear view mirror in the family car...

https://cat-uxo.com/explosive-hazards/submunitions/m43-submunition matches the pyramid shape
https://cat-uxo.com/explosive-hazards/submunitions/kb-1-submunition has a arming ribbon.
Both are cluster munitions so something like these?

That was not a one-off situation either. There are, unfortunately, a lot of people around the world who lost limbs and shit as kids because they were playing with UXO left by the US. It's one of MANY reasons everyone stopped using cluster munitions except in very limited situations- which was why it was a big deal when Russia was dropping them on Ukraine.

Yep. The PFM-1, or butterfly IEDs of the type Russia was using look like a little plastic toy, assuming you notice it at all while walking along.
