I am stressing what to do about my healthcare without insurance, the only pressing downside to being back in the states. Thankfully I rationed my meds the months before knowing I would have to deal with this when I got back here. Anyway I got to talking to an employee at a grocery store self checkout, I have known her there for years so she recognized me and asked how I have been and where. I didn't tell her any personal relationship stuff but just said I was away in France for vacation and cause healthcare is super cheap there and she tries explaining to me a remedy to detox my liver and kidneys of impurities and tell me about a vitamin complex she takes of vegetables and drinks lemon water every morning and Apple Cider vinegar. I explained briefly my MCAS makes me allergic to every fruit and vegetable so I have to be careful (even though Xolair helps,) and she said I have to "attract health" by seeing myself healed. I was already boiling with a smile cause she's always been nice but it is crazy how many people think they can cure a chronic and complex health issue just briefly explained as if all the immunologists in the world are dumb exept her.
One day I will be able to just live alone away from everyone and have my life secluded with a mansion of cats and other rescue animals. I want to live like an old bitter crone looking out the window judging everyone with my Josephine.

Ugh. When I was diagnosed with a brain tumor, a well-intentioned (but wrong) friend suggested I try tuning forks.
Re meds: I have had some success with making an appointment with my PCP (which is always months out) and then brining my records to a walk-in clinic and explaining the issue. A lot of times, the doctors there understand and will write a short-term Rx — ymmv

Is even trickier when it's someone nice, you know it's probably coming from a place of trying to help and/or the (definitely believable I guess) belief that cheap cures wouldn't be researched/promoted by those making money from treating them. That doesn't stop the fact that dear god lady you are the 40th person trying to tell someone who actually has the condition what to do with no actual experience with it and I only have so much space for patience about that no matter how well meant.

My daughter has a terminal genetic disease. It’s well documented and studied. Some dude at a deli told me I should make her drink hydrogen peroxide to cure her. These doctors know this secret but they want to keep charging us money. Dude, her dad is a doctor. He is grieving with me. If it were that easy it would be cured by now. My GP irresponsibly kept me on Clonazepam for 5 years. I've been tapering with the assistance of another doctor for about a year now. Someone told me to take a "tincture of St. John's wort" to prevent benzodiazepine withdrawal.
I also have MS (doesn't affect my day to day life thankfully) and at my first appointment with my specialist after being diagnosed, she said "if anyone tells you that you can manage this disease with diet, they're full of shit." She's awesome.

I would need actual medical history and symptoms but I can tell you, as someone who has worked in medicine intermittently for decades and work for the government in the US. Every state, and I mean EVERY SINGLE STATE in the US has a tax payer funded healthcare system for people in need. The federal level also has subsided healthcare programs. There are hundreds of resources.

In my experience the majority of people who are in need are eligible for help but the system is so overwhelming and confusing they don't or can't go through the process. My experience allows me to navigate these systems very effectively.
It seems silly and sad but sending someone a DIRECT link to the ACA subsidized application overcomes 75% of the intimidation factors.

The point I was making in the first part of my comment was people on the internet cannot help you effectively BECAUSE they need medical history and symptoms along with other objective measurements that would be contained in a standard SOAP note record that they SHOULDN'T be giving over the internet, a better approach is get help navigating the system to get into an actual doctor covered by tax payer funded healthcare and get the dedicated help you need.
