And don’t forget Iran had a democratically elected government working for the good of the Iranian people until we overthrew it and installed the Shah

#1 Go back a bit further Scott, you waste of organs. Maybe until 1953. Then you'll see who the real problem country is.

The number of fucked up things Reagan did is enormous. Iran/Contra is just one. He was on the verge of losing to Carter and stole Carter’s debate prep and gave an amazing performance that eliminated Carter’s surge. Rs been cheating since the 80s to win.

And in 1953 the CIA/Mi5 overthrew Iran's government. It came out in 1979 when the Shah fled and the secret files were read. Hence the rage that lead to the taking of Hostages. Now in 2026, the USA is cooking up future payback for the 2050s.

#1 the 2nd part of this from RobJP is complete BS. This is the long debated 1980 October Surprise Theory which has been officially debunked. Both house and senate reports found no credible evidence.

Figures you were downvoted, even though you are right.

Precisely which part would you say is "complete BS"? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran%E2%80%93Contra_affair

While Reagan fast tracked it, the cuts to welfare started with Carter. But somehow he is a saint.

Reagan's V.P. (the elder Bush) was the former head of CIA and had the means to arrange the Iran-Contra deal. Reagan himself? Not exactly a brilliant strategist. He was a front man in charge of P.R.

Oh, just because it hasn't worked in the past doesn't mean it won't work any day now. We just gotta keep going. No, I don't believe that any cost has been sunk; why do you ask? Fallacy? What madness are you about? Return to your work; we'll be wealthy any day now... (sarcasm, since some idiots cannot understand subtext)

Reagan was the start of the oligarchy of the rich. He did away with the laws from Theodore Roosevelt's day. Which aggressively used the Sherman Antitrust Act to break up monopolies and regulate corporate power.

Fox hired the guy that took the fall for Iran-Contra and he's a regular contributor now. Dude actively broke the law and disobeyed the Constitution and they portray him as a hero and patriot.

You mean Lt-Col Oliver North? I remember him. Funny how he was blamed for all the shit they pulled, flooding the US with street cocaine in the early 80s. The local bar scene went completely wild for a couple years. It was everywhere.

I learned about all of this from American Dad. The song was pretty good.

Pretty certain US had something to do with making Iran the way it is now. Something about overthrowing democratically elected leaders, and such?

Pretty sure I was also taught something along the lines of "You reap what you sow." Only problem is the ones thay caused the problem are dead now.

Correct! The Iranian PM, Mohammed Mosaddegh, wanted to audit the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company to make sure that the Anglo-side wasn't just robbing Iran blind. The AIOC refused, and Iran's parliament in turn voted to nationalize their oil and kick foreign corpos out.

The UK then decided that fuck that, they'd institute as much of a worldwide boycott of Iranian oil as they could, while also running to Eisenhower to get the CIA to help overthrow Mosaddegh.
