I don't care if this gets buried, I just want everyone out there to know they are not alone.
So while there is a HUGE stigma about dealing with depression and asking for help, ignore it! I literally just got off the phone with the veterans crisis hotline. I don't say this in hopes that y'all start commenting words of praise and what not. No, I say this because I hope that maybe me coming out with depression can make you see that you're not alone. I hope that a veteran or literally anyone struggling with depression can find the courage to call a hotline, talk to a friend, or just reach out to someone and talk it through. It's not a joke, and you're not alone. You're not a burden on anyone and you're not an inconvenience. These are all thoughts that went through my head and they go through everyone's who deals with this. I cannot stress this enough!
YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
I still struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts. But hey, I'm talking to people about it! I'm not ashamed of it, and you shouldn't be either.
Please, I beg you to talk to someone if you even think you need to! Hell, even if it's me, inbox me. Talk to a friend, they'll be there for you.
I just want to leave you with this. You're not alone. If all else fails, know that at the very least, I'm here for you, An internet stranger, who is going through the same stuff.
So please, call or talk to someone. You are worth their time.
I'm leaving the suicide hotlines, but if you don't want to face someone with a voice (which I completely understand) please just reach out to someone!
suicide hotline: 1-800-273-8255
If you're a veteran: 1-800-273-8255 and press 1
You're not alone.
