I've been on a kick of watching old shows and movies from my childhood lately, let's wander down this road. Starting with this movie I just watched again last night, I forgot so much about it. Stith is definitely my favourite character. I just wish we understood why the Drej were such dicks. The 3d animation on them definitely makes them feel otherworldly in this movie!
Next up is this bit of TV joy. Watching it back now, I love spotting the bits that make up the intro song, and the places you know are going to move because they're not painted into the backdrop. Plus the little errors in animation, and how often Shaggy looks stoned.
Then there's this... I can never forget the song. Almost makes me sad knowing it only ran for three seasons, now. I'm tempted to watch Rides Again, but also worried it'll just ruin my memories of the original. Wa-ha-ha-hoo, everyone!

Titan AE is amazing, treasure planet is too I think. These are great. Time to rewatch.

IIRC the Drej's motivations were discussed in the novelization.. can't remember exactly, but I think it was something like the Drej having a monopoly on a certain (energy?) tech, and Cole's dad succeeded in kind of replicating it with the Titan.

Alternatively there's also the suggestion that an energy-matter conversion tech (ei. Titan) could be a major threat to energy-bases species like the Drej. Hence a "pre-emptive strike". In either case, the Drej are still being dicks tho.
