Iceland, Been There. Check!

So, the wife and I recently took a trip to the majestic Nordic island country of Iceland. It's been on our travel destination wish-list for so long that I could hardly believe we were able make it happen.

It was a 16-day road trip around the "Land of Fire and Ice" mostly taking Route 1, the "Ring Road" but also a good amount of backcountry and some off the beaten path locations.

The longest we spent in any city or town was 3 nights, but mostly it was 1-2 nights depending on the the number of sightseeing and or hiking spots in the general area or the amount of driving required for the the next leg.

In total we drove almost 40 hours, got 2 flat tires and a cracked rim (all covered by insurance, patched, repaired or replaced within hours) and stayed overnight in 8 towns/cities.

We took thousands of photos and some drone footage (only taken in remote areas with no other people in sight). While we did take a decent amount of city/town photos, this post will just highlight some of the more spectacular natural scenes.

As mentioned, I only highlighted the natural sites, but the cities and towns were filled with tons of charm and interest. The people were super friendly, helpful and honest. We had some tire issues several times and in all cases, from the car rental company, to the locals who helped out, and the mechanics who repaired and replaced our tires, all around the island... everyone was so helpful.

What a place. Can't wait to get back.
