Plasma/Platelet donation can be done every two weeks, as opposed to every eight weeks for a whole blood donation.
The blood is taken out a little at a time, separated by centrifuge, and then the red blood cells are returned to the donor. The rest is retained. Repeat this process (for two hours or more) until a sufficient quantity of platelets/plasma has been collected. ADDITIONAL NOTES: They do not pay me for this. It takes about 2½ hours.

Good on you, OP. Plasma donation is different and paid; this is voluntary and unpaid. Different products are made from the two donations.

Is this different than normal plasma donation then? Cuz that you can do twice a week... do you get paid better?

Not gonna lie, I did it for about 6 months because I was BROKE. Now I have track marks and it is hard to draw blood.

I don't get paid for this (unless you count cookies and juice) and you can clearly see the scar tissue from the needles on my left arm(1/2)

I got paid almost $200 a month. The more consistent I went the more I got paid. I used so much vitamin e, but the marks are still there.

I thought they just done a normal blood donation then seperated if they chose. But then maybe the NHS is less fancy than where you are.
