Improving efficiency with technology isn't the problem. It's what society does with that improved efficiency that is the problem. Split the gains in efficiency between the capitalists and society via taxes. Use those taxes to help displaced workers.

Yes. It's actually one of the few things they can kinda do. Every other attempt to replace human brains with AI has ended up eventually costing the company more, and then failing so bad they need to rehire humans at consultant rates

Lol... have a buddy who saw several positions cut in favor of AI. He's still there, several low level entry positions (Data & Controlling) to go over the code he and other write are gone.
Even better, he HAS to use AI bots for generating code or he'd be lagging behind, which only managed to introduce more errors.
His prediction: They'll have to let go of AI, especially since the corpos want to jack up prices all over the board. That would mean rehiring, to higher salaries. :)

Social credit doesnt exist, has never existed, and was mentioned once in a working paper by a junior policy team and never went further. The US, however, does have a credit score that determines your ability to participate in significant parts of public life

Incorrect premise. Even in normal paying countries, AI is more expensive. Llms have pretty much completely failed to save costs. NOBODY but CEOs who are using them to bamboozled stock holders, and tech bros who are using it to bamboozle CEOs, think they are actually good for business.

My understanding is that AI companies are basically offering their services for free or dirt cheap now, much cheaper than the thing actually costs, with the goal of inflating the price later when everyone gets addicted to it and make real benefits.

They’re not. Fairly certain the threat is for white collar desk jobs. It’s what an LLM is designed to replace. They’ve been at war with automation in manufacturing since the 1970s. AI will no doubt speed up the automation, but it is already making a lot of desk jobs redundant.

They made it illegal to replace human workers with AI purely for the sake of cost-cutting. The court decided that companies hold a social responsibility to treat workers fairly and pay them what they're worth.
Companies are expected to retrain, reassign, or negotiate with staff whose roles are impacted by automation rather than firing them.
