Does anyone else remember these weird "Jump Training" shoes from the 1990s?

I had an argument with my kid about these shoes. He was certain I was making it all up completely or that I was hallucinating these weird shoes ever being made/sold.

But no, they existed EXACTLY as I described them. And I could prove it. He really thought I was losing my marbles until I pulled up some images of them from the net.

I have no idea of these ever worked in the slightest way or if they were 100% snake oil.

I found a YouTube video with some info... https://www.youtube.com/shorts/G67sFd75fH0?feature=share

That’s the thing nowadays. You can prove anything that happened in the recent past

Couple decades ago when I joined the navy it was those weird shoes with individual toes that supposedly made you run faster. Tons of people in my class got them, then they quietly disappeared when the actual studies disproving the claims came out.

Reminds me of the ones Kramer was wearing in that one "Seinfeld" episode.

They force you to balance on the balls of your feet, but iirc, they did so wrong and resulted in people tearing up their leg muscles. You can passively strengthen your calves by just walking on your toes everywhere you go...

It's almost impossible to walk on tiptoes constantly, but simply walking long-ish distances often will do. I'm a lifelong walker and have 21" calves.

A lifelong walker, huh? Were you also born at a young age? Just kidding, I just thought the expression was funny.

Well I wear this net on my head
'Cause my red hair is fallin' out
I wear these brown orthopedic shoes
'Cause I got a bad case of the gout
I know you want seconds on the corndogs
But there's no reason to shout
Everybody gets enough food
