The Chinese wedding one is incorrect. The couple is dressing up in Qing dynasty costume, which people do for fun but not for weddings

Many indonesian people have muslim weddings. And chinese weddings sadly very westernized now.

#3 is from the Igbo region of Nigeria.

It's better you change Indian to North Indian wedding, as the same wedding dress is not used around the country.

For a second there I thought Mongolia was a Final Fantasy mini-boss

That's clearly a summon!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

nah dude that's some form of Kefka, have you seen the art?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It bugs me so much that the MacDonald tartan is the most iconic tartan and so always used in depictions of Scotland - it's so ugly!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Agreed

The Scottish bridal tradition of wearing white isn't all that old or particularly Scottish. The Tartan is, however.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

But she's wearing the tartan of her soon-to-be husband

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's not very common for the female to wear tartan at all although it's a nice touch, usually they have a brooch that matches

Fascinating!

American wedding garb feels so boring in comparison to all of these.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

It only feels boring because you see it so often and/or are accustomed to it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know! I'd love to use some of these wedding dresses if I ever get married, but then someone would bitch about "cultural appropriation"

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I heard Mexican weedings are quite exciting actually.

Kazakhstani bride looks like a snow wizard #2

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Like an eight year old snow witch? Seriously, how old is she?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Between 15 and 50

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Norway one is not so common for bride and groom. Its alot more suit and white dress. However, traditional clothes are common among guests

9 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 3

I think they meant before the popularity of the white dress in the Victorian era, i.e. traditional folk dress.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My niece married with those clothes so i would say its not that rare, but still a bit rare.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She *does* wear the bride's crown though, so it is a wedding.

Bunad, as it is called in Norwegian, is clothes that are used at festive happenings. They are very expencive and there are different styles

9 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

I only ever use mine on 17th of may (Norwegian constitution day) and this year I didn't even wear it then.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A male bunad starts at 3 good suits (with shirt) and go up from there. And then there's the silver...

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Which means that a good one is much more expensive than an executive suit of any cut.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

From different regions. A bunad is an investment. They are handmade and there is loads of work behind every single one.

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Also wery hot and itchy.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I have done beadwork on a few bunads (just the belt and/or breast piece). So much work, but so much fun! Thank you for the explanation.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I googled and they are beautiful. Thank you for getting me interested. I love learning about other people

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No problem :) Sadly I dont own a Bunad myself atm, but I hopefully will one day! :) They cost about 30,000 nok, so around 3000 euros.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Most of these aren't common anymore. They are the traditional dress, though.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

The Norwegian ones are common. But as I said...very expencive.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same for Romania. They also picked a weird region. In my region, the traditional suit looks like this:

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: Queen Amidala's royal outfits were based on Mongolian ceremonial dress.

I was so envious of how gorgeous Natalie Portman always was in Star Wars when I was little. I mean, I still am, but I was then too.

I really want a scottish wedding.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Me too...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm Scottish, and I don't actually want a Scottish wedding. All I ever see are Scottish weddings, the scramble, kilts, bagpipes, boring...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They're pretty fun

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We had ours at chatelherault, it was perfect. If you do it though, Scottish I mean, no underwear!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

On the bright side, there's a shorter wait until consummation.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Honest question, do they REALLY wear nothing under it?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, you are considered not a proper Scotsman if you do

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do they check if you are wearing it?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sometimes, no, alot of the time women will throw your kilt up at the back, if they can't see ass it's a shitstorm

At Mardi Gras, you get those bead necklaces, and people tend to flash you for them. I believe they're saying that's how she got them.
