Girls Baseball was designed to temporarily replace Men's Baseball during WW2.
They played in small markets in the Midwest in small stadiums.
It started out very popular as these areas had no major teams.
It was normal baseball rules at the time, no major changes.
No underhand or softball here, all baseball.
No real difference from men's baseball.
Except the uniforms.
For more appeal they wore skirts, took charm school, and wore makeup even during games.
Despite MLB desegregating in 1947, the girls league never did.
Women played through everything, no special exceptions just like Men's baseball.
Salaries ranged $45–$85 ($615–$1162 now) a week during the first years to up to $125 (or $1140 now) near the end.
Locations stayed small as did the crowds.
The magazines marketed the more attractive players to generate interest outside the markets.
The advance in television, radio signals, and minor league men's baseball eventually bankrupted the league.
The league went on for 12 seasons, from 1943-1954.

The movie A League of Their Own, despite being a good movie, is far off from many of the details of the league. But i still recommend watching it if you haven't.

Those are the Rockford Peaches! I was born there. They have a little field still to remember them by but its not in a great part of town!
