I think it's a juvenile. Also you can't see the black & white plumage well from this angle but it's definitely a road runner

That could be it. I'm mostly familiar with birds in the US and Canada. I definitely recognize it, whatever it is, but I was and still am drawing a blank on it.

Are you sure? That seems to have very distinct breast streaking and a bright white stripe through the cheek, neither of which I'm seeing on this bird, although I'm unfamiliar with the various plumages of this species. I was thinking Peruvian thick-knee maybe.
