Even more fun when you're a few generations of paleskin removed from BQ and your actual raising was 'yeah we're Mexican' and you grew up with Diné and Shoshone traditions but you're from the other side of the continent.
This person looks just like me. That dance and that regalia are not dissimilar from what you would see in my hometown, as well as towns and villages throughout SE Alaska. Being told to keep out feels bad, man. I don't think the people are the problem. You need to safeguard your ideas and your ideals. Stay safe, cousins.

I feel like all tribes should be together in this since we will always be a target for hate, unfortunately with all the animosity between the two countries at the moment we will be caught in the middle once again. Well, "powwow" is still used by natives, so as long as its not used in an offensive manner its only taking the term from their verbiage. I know some are a bit sensitive about their culture being "used" or "stolen" though considering... everything... so do be careful about the respect of that though.
It originates from the Algonquin word “pau-wau”, meaning “medicine man”. Colonizers began misusing the word in reference to meetings of Indigenous spiritual leaders/medicine men. Since then it's been reclaimed & adopted by many Anishinaabe communities. 1/x
So, the answer is mostly yes, to many the misuse can be offensive as it demeans a culturally significant ceremony/tradition. Ie: An office manager at E-Veridian Dynamics Corp. Distributes a memo calling for a “Dept. Heads Powwow at noon.” 2/x
or a “River City, USA” town council arranges a Summer carnival & calls it “Happy Town Pow Wow”. Those are egregious examples. Conversely, I know a lot of Anishinaabe folk who wouldn't be offended if someone offhand refers to a casual friend/family gathering as a “pow wow”. Just don't go making posters/handbills for it. Pow Wows are vibrant celebrations w/ drumming, singing, dancing, food, arts/crafts & they're open to the public. Basically it comes down to respect & having an open heart. 3/3
