I don't know how it is for them, but for me it has alot to do with whether my cat decides to be an asshole who stops halfway through the door letting all the hot air in. Why she has to have her butt half in the A/C with her front half baking outside in 95F temps + FL humidity, I have no idea.
I had a corgi. He was so fucking dumb. We had a pet door that the other 2 big dogs could use just fine but the corgi would miss it. Full speed too. We painted the rim black to contrast on the white door and vinyl flap. We put little red with black border stop signs across the bottom. Still for years the first 2 dogs would come flying in and then BAM. There's Otto(the corgi). The vet said he could see fine, he was just dumb.
I know the black should have been enough, and the red did invisible jackshit, but I do wonder if a color he could see like blue would have at least slowed him just once.
think 3 4 inch tall octagons on each side of the clearish 14x24 flappy door. Inside he would do the same thing but much more slowly since it wasn't a running start and the inside of the door was dark green vs the bright daylight shining on the doggy door. Just boop boop boop then runs outside and rape a duck or whatever.
A circle seems like an odd shape for a vertical hinged door. Is this just because circles are easier to cut in glass or something? Integrity of the glass?
