Just knocked together a little webcomic thing, hope you all like it!

In Vietnam fried tarantula is very popular.

I hate to think of extreme outliers of ppl eating mouthfuls of spiders in their sleep

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

OK, that is very good...and funny! Your strip went in an entirely different direction than what I was expecting. Nice work, OP!

You didn't just 'knock this together.' you tried hard. And it shows because it's really good. Be proud and don't play down your skills :)

Fucking Steve.

I only understand this because I had to take statistics and analytics this semester.

Classic Steve

If you don't mind I'll be sharing this on Farcebook...

That's hilarious and frightening at the same time. Front page, here we go!

Finally a post that isnt about breakfast!!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's brunch time spiders

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I swear the Spiders Georg meme was the best possible way to get a whole bunch of people to remember how statistical outliers work.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

The spider myth was made up in 1993 as an example of how quickly a made-up statistic can travel through the internet. For real, source below

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

The spiders will have their revenge Steve.

S o o n.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The average human has one testicle and one ovary.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are ~2.2 popes per square mile within Vatican City. This is because Vatican City is less than .5 square miles in area. Statistics!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I read this while waiting for my stats class to start, perfect serendipity

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Steve: to hell with your bell curve, eat more spiders

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This misunderstanding of averages fueled the plot of a silly isekai anime that I would never admit to liking

That’s why I want the mean, median, mode, and standard deviation.

4 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 0

What about mean deviation, the median deviation, and the mode deviations?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And sample size. I don't want to hear about your goddamn toothpaste study on 19 people.

4 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Or your ivermectin study on 10.

At Walmart an idiot tried to get me in trouble by printing my average checkout speed for like 5 customers and I just said no not happening

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thats not how checkout average works- you go total my time for the whole week then we can talk- but he quit soon after that :P

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Why, Steve? Why??

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Thanks to pregnancies, the average number of skeletons in the human body is greater than 1

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's why medians and Standard Devations are good to know.

4 years ago | Likes 124 Dislikes 1

And why you discard outliers

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like the one where you take the average after culling top and bottom 10%

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

There's actually a whole lot of variations on that same idea. I spent last week looking at more than I wanted to know existed, for work.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Interdecile average? I like the sound of it.

It's Cambodia.. They have a whole fried tarantula season.

4 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

can we exclude them from our stats?

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Do they eat them in their sleep though?

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Nobody eats spiders in their sleep. It came from a list of factoids written to show people will repeat anything they read, however dumb.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's what they want you to think.

Spiders Georg

Just crunched some numbers, spiders Georg would actually have to eat 57.6 million spiders a day

The average number of arms that all people have is less than 2. So if you have 2 arms, you have an above average number of arms for a human

4 years ago | Likes 571 Dislikes 0

But what about John the serial killer who keeps the arms of his victems on his wall?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have two arms, but three legs ?

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Walking stick ?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So most people have an above aversge number of arms

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it's like 1.999999 tho

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Is that 2

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

v

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: the number of arms has very low heritability, because little of the variance can be explained by genetics (instead: accidents).

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also the average number of balls someone has is around 1

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How about average gonads?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have a greater than average penis! Success!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

When my husband and I have sex, I have an above average number of bones in my body ?

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Yeah but no though

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fingers?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's true if your husband is a gorilla.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Humans do not have penis bone? What exactly is your husband?

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

But they have a bone -err?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It’s fun to make fun statistics

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Do the people that have those little nubby hands still count as two-armed?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Does a healthy woman pregnant with healthy twins have two or six?

4 years ago | Likes 132 Dislikes 2

Yes

4 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 2

How many horsepower does she have?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Definitely six, it is made of her cells and energy and is inside her organ. If you eat a chicken, you still have two legs for example.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, because those aren't her limbs. The babies with their own limbs are just renting her space.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Shitty renters, I guess that's why they all end up being evicted....

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because of pregnant women the average number of skeletons inside a person is always greater than 1.

4 years ago | Likes 152 Dislikes 1

Yeeeah... Because of pregnant women, definitely...

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hm, no I don't like this. Nope.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Definitely do not look at a reconstruction of a toddler skull. The number of teeth is nightmare fuel

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but they aren't full skeletons either, so we are talking decimals here.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Unread

4 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Unread me this

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I remember reading something about twins and triplets causing the average number of skeletons to be higher than 2, but can't find it.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Even if every female was pregnant the average would be 1.5. No way enough are pregnant right now with twins to make it higher than 2

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't forget to account for triplets, quadruplets, and so on. Humans can have up to 8 children per pregnancy.
