FP Edit: After reading your comments, I feel bad for some of you. I guess 6am isn't so bad. I just wish I could sleep in every once in a while.
I love my job. I work with CADD programs on the daily. I draw stuff for a living.

@OP I lift heavy stuff all day at Lowe's, and I work the good ol' 1-10 or 2-11 night shift. I wouldn't trade it for a cubicle :P

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I worked 10am-10pm today, 6am-6pm tomorrow and 6pm-6am the following day and that's just the end of my 6 day week... I'll log about 75 hours

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Adulting is the worst

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You are allowed to complain about waking up at 6. My first thought was you sound burned out not I worked 123 hours last week (which i did)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

After 15 years as a cook, I love waking up at 6am for my overpaid office job where everyone thinks I'm a savant for actually doing shit.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Holy shit the things i would do for a job with a set schedule that doesnt require heavy labor.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Would you study? Because that's what people usually do for this kind of job. IT courses are affordable if you know how to google.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Straight up full degree. What i lack is 2 to 5 years of experience for the entry level positions everyone wants. Try again.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

as a person with depression, I dont understand how people can do this sort of thing. It just makes me wanna die so much

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

What do we say to the god of death?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I actually like my job. So it's not so bad. I just really miss sleeping in till noon as a teenager.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As another person with depression and a night owl, it's really exhausting. I had to do it for my previous job and it was hell.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Routine is a big part of it - somehow getting up at 6 in the morning was fine when I did it every day. Now? Fuck off I want my sleep.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it sucks, but at least you get to do something you enjoy. Most people don't.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

my last job had me up at 3:30am at the latest. had a 4:02am bus to catch.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

i work 18 hours a day 6 days a week. i haven't seen the sun in about 3 years.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

How is that legal?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

i'm head chef, it comes with the territory.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

not to brag, but I work from home. wake up 10 minutes before it's time to get on the computer.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pssshhhh. 0600? I'm late!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Accept the negative counseling and take your time

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hahaha! I *am* the manager! I have to much shit to do. If I get in on time, I have to stay late.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fuck there are so many whiners in the comments here.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

I concur.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

7pm to 9 am. Mon night through sat am. I hated cubicle work more...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also CAD can be fun or extremely boring. I drafted fiber optic cables.... offset the road, trim/extend. Send to engineer to finish.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Civil, Survey or Mechanical? I am going on 12 years and 32 as well.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Electrical

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ohhh! We do small pump stations, so I lumped electrical into civil. I am 6am-3pm too

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nice! I do substations, pump stations, distribution, transmission and mcc/swgr buildings.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Did all of us start right out of highschool? Lol

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorta! I tested out of high school as a junior, was taking 18 units at a college before I turned 18.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nice! I started leaning cad in middle school, currently have 11 years professionally post 18+ it's been a fun ride.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel your pain. But at least we get to pay for our health insurance and retirements. Woo!! Retirement just 20+ years away! Lol

9 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

43 for Australia, but at least we don't need health insurance

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

At 6 ive been working for 30 min

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

guess whose tired of working 12-hour shift alternating day and nights between 5:00-5:00z This guy!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Keep up the good work. People on welfare depend on you.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Life is full of problems, they will never go away, It's all about exchange one set of problems for a better set of problems.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*insert own shite work schedule here to make OP feel better about his shite life

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Internet comment sections are cancer more often than not but this one right here is easily in the Top 5 of the most pathetic ones.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fuck off! At least you have a job

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I work 10pm-6:30am. Sympathy denied

9 years ago | Likes 513 Dislikes 30

You work half an hour longer than me but otherwise I work the same hours but all by myself. It's very nice. I get to watch TV the whole time

Hey me too. Except all days of the week. Oh and 6am to 6pm sometimes

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work freelance. Still wake up at 6, because otherwise my life turns into chaos.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

10am-6:30pm. I have had plenty of rest, I can give out sympathy if anybody needs some.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I work 10 days of 6pm to 6am followed by 10 days of 6am to 6pm. Sympathy throat slit and left to bleed out.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6pm - 6:30am

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9/10pm-2am, with 9am/10am classes in the morning.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

midnight to 9am, not wearing any pants though so you still win

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Want. I'm often 8 to 6/9 i Hate endless traffic hell . How do people go to sleep before 1 in morning while typing this comment? 1:03 bed

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

12 am to 8 am sometimes longer.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

7am to 5pm 4days a week with 40 min drive time both ways 7am to 7pm every wednesday and work 8 hrs every other saturday. . . sympathy denied

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At least you have hours that don't fight a sleep schedule. My schedule goes morning, evening, evening, mid, morning, 2 days off, repeat.

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

I work 4pm-230 am mon-early morning friday. I love it, but there are so many weeknight events I want to do. Trivia, non-blitzed kareoke...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that's physically unhealthy. I was on a similar schedule just getting thrown around until i made that argument

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used to do rotating shifts like that and sometimes would get off at 7am to come back at 3pm. My sleep still sucks but god I don't miss it

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work 3rd shift & have a 3 year old at home (+2 in school), I sleep during the day on Sat/Sun and night Mon/Tues/Wed. Whee!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup, no argument there. Having a regular sleep schedule is the most important thing, not when you sleep

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I've worked 3 days this week so far. Clocked out today with 36 hours. What's a sleep schedule

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

545pm-6am. But i much prefer nights to days.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8pm-8am...7 nights in a row. Wouldn't trade it for a 9-5 at all.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I work 7 to 7, Thursday through Wednesday. That week off is so worth it

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Definitely worth it. I'm on Monday through Sunday. Feels good finishing when everyone else is starting.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Medical field?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do 7 to 7 too. Either 4 days straight, or one week straight if it is nights. What fields are you in? Science/physics here.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work for Cargill, so Ag/food processing

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6pm to 6am, then an hour drive home.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

330am to 1130am. I'd happily trade hours with you

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I enjoyed working nights more than working days. Could do whatever all day, hang out with friends and then work while others slept.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It seems weird but my social life has improved TREMENDOUSLY now that I work overnights rather than evenings.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right. And if you only work night shifts you get used to sleeping 7~12 during the week so its great.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well for me I actually sleep around 2/4pm-9 so I ended up making friends with a bunch of morning people. But hey, whatever works right?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Any combo of morn (0700-1530), Eve (1430-2300) or night (2245-0715), 10 shifts a fortnight. Shift work sucks.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's probably the worst time I ever worked. It's depressing and almost made me kill myself. That and being alone when I get home.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Amen.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have bartender hours but I like my job so I'll give you like 13% sympathy.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would kill to go back to night-shift. 7AM-4PM now, with an hour one way commute.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3:00 pm-4:00 am Yay for completely fucking our circadian rhythm

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ouch

9 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

11pm-7am here, on the bright side after 22 years of hating mornings, now that they're my evenings I find them lovely.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

4am-7pm, Sympathy choke-slammed.

9 years ago | Likes 198 Dislikes 7

Damner man, I feel ya. Started the 6 am to 10-11 pm here.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I worked 10pm - 7:30am (6 days a week mandatory) while going to school full time as an engineering student. some days in winter I didn't

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Brings to mind the "you can sleep when your dead" adage.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

See the sun for a while. I lasted 6 months before I had to stop for my own health. I'd sleep all day on my one day off I had each week...

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

10pm to 8 am. 7 days a week! Hahaha Im so tired

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What kind of job has such ungodly hours!?

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Medical residency

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Honestly waking up at 2 or 3 does sound a little worse. Oh and it's 15 hours too! Fuuuun

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Here hours like this are called "illegal"

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Welcome to the wonders of, "right to work."

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

3am-2am cuz meth, sympathy Batista bombed

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

No sympathy for Meth users. Sorry.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

3 am to noon also denied

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

as a graveyarder, i have no sympathy when my employees tell me they only slept 4 or 5 hours.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

GIMME, I hate working 6:00AM - 3:00PM, I naturally start waking up at 9:00 PM

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The question is; what have you been doing since you've been of working age that required any other time to wake up? Just wondering.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I bartended until I was 25, most fun I've had working. Too bad the hours weren't sustainable for other life things going on (5pm-3am).

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Freelance? Working later shifts?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I worked retail for 10 years. Hours sucked, pay sucked, customers sucked. Went back to school, got a degree and got a job with a $40k raise.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

hourly pay when I'm on hour 14 and I remember I'm salary. Hooray adulthood!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's so weird how the blackhole of retail can pull you back for so long. Got out 5 years ago and never looking back. I do miss hourly (1/?)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Lucky for me I still get paid hourly.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

what programs are you using?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

AutoCAD, Inventor, MicroStation

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

so more-less architectural stuff?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Electrical/industrial

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm working in small company but I enjoy that I can do CAD but also use machines and do some welding etc. Use brain and hands too.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nice! I'm jealous.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't ever have kids.

9 years ago | Likes 97 Dislikes 10

My toddler still gets up 3-10x a night. I miss sleeping...

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Whoever downvoted you must not be a parent... I miss it too!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think a lot of Imgurians think bc I chose to have a baby I shouldn't complain

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, fuck that noise. They'll learn. Just because we chose it and are happy with our choice doesn't mean we can't also be exhausted. <3

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Right?? Those mamas that are all 'omg my baby is a gift from heaven' are super f-ing annoying.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't think I've slept past 6:30am in the 2 years of my kids existence

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Condescending af. People put having kids at the top of the totem pole. Not that hard tbh

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Unless you want to. Then definitely have kids.

9 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 6

Not sure that's a good enough reason to ruin your life

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 7

Even then give it a second thought

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

I have 2 and a stepchild...seriously, think about it. It's both the greatest and worst choice of your life

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's.. so... much... money... I want kids but I don't want to give up spending 500+ a month on take away and toys

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Money would be the least of my concerns - all the time you lose out on, it ends up being very difficult to have time to yourself or go out.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I had a kid at 20. Now my son is 14 and I feel like I have my life back again. It's a catch 22 on either end.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know right, I barely have time to do nothing as it is

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Very difficult = just aint gonna happen. I cant even pee alone anymore. 4 kids for sale. Going cheap.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You don't know the value of them young healthy organs

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your right. Theyre priceless. While your here would you care to make an offer?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0
