Terrific Brazilian steakhouse

Mar 12, 2017 12:28 AM

In portuguese is called "Picanha", is a unique cut that does not exist in the British-American system. The most similar would be rump cap (in Oceania and the UK) or top sirloin cap (North America). It is absurdly tasty

I want Fogo de Chão now.

The Picanha is my favourite cut. Just cook it over the fire and then enjoy it in pure bliss.

As a vegetarian who knows nothing about meat, how can a cut exist in only one country? Like, are some cuts forbidden in some countries?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't tell me food I've eaten doesn't exist where I live when I ate it at home

This looks brazilliant!

Probably my favorite cut when I go to a Brazillian steak house. Wish I could talk them into dropping a whole slab on my plate! :D

You could, and they would!

For Carnaval, our neighborhood store had a picanha sale - we got just over 7 kilos of picanha for R$140! It's normally R$50/kilo.

oh god yes, I want the meat sweats...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Instead of slicing it off thinly...you could alternatively, let me eat it like a Kabob.

A Brazilian woman told me to request a "tri-tip with the cap on" from a Butcher for a picanha. I gave yet to confirm that it's correct

If i cook picanha at home i sear the meat and slowly cook it on a pan with fat downward. At the end i sear the fat, too.

Be nice if it was cooked

Novilhos in Bellevue Washington is the best Brazilian steakhouse I've ever had. No, the very best steakhouse I've ever had. Hands down.

Gaucho steakhouse in Northville, MI. Absolutely delicious. The salad bar was incredible and then they brought the skewers around. Exquisite

I love those places. Whoever figured out 'give us money, we bring you steak until you're happy' deserves a nobel prize.

I am happy from the beggining. Should be give me steak until I can no longer receive it.

I only go to mine once a year on my wedding anniversary. It's coming up next month, and I can't wait. I'm gonna eat until I get meat sweats!

Check out a smaller Brazilian restaurant, if there are any around you. The food is exactly the same as the expensive places.

then they come around with that dry sausage and expect me to eat salad and sides.... 100% grilled meats. I die later, but I live first.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Depends I guess. I try a sausage when they've got them, but I steer clear of the chicken except the drumsticks.

Local Brazilian BBQ place called Lapa, does this any many other amazing cuts. You pay $50 and they constantly bring meat out straight

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

Basically the same thing near Dallas and apparently a few other places, Texas de Brazil. Amazing food

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For those near the Bay Area we have Espetus and Fogo de Chao

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

From the kitchen until you give up. There's Pork Belly, Chicken Hearts, Steak, more steak, more chicken, more pork, etc etc. I die everytime

And there's always chips, potato salad, salad, and a never ending array of sauces on your table.

We have one 10 minutes from my house, I've been 3 times since they opened last year and it makes me so happy.

May hubs and I are thinking if going to the one here in Chattanooga next weekend.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just went last week! It was delicious. Even the cold and hot bars were great.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

wish I could translate "espeto corrido". It's a common expression on south of Brazil, but "run skewer" is fucking weird

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Quick stick-- rough but it rhymes

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Running barbecue". ;-)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Maple Grove MN ?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The Rodizio in Maple Grove is pretty good. Fogo de Chão downtown is better but twice as expensive.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The one time I went to Fogo wasn't that tasty, the meat was over salted. Maybe it was just me.
