Or you could just go to Vizzed 40+ systems, more pokemon games then you can shake a stick at (who still says that?) Seriously give it a try.

3 better emulators than your 3 of the source provided. NES: puNES/FCEUX Gameboy: Gambatte SNES: higan.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I still prefer Nestopia to Jnes.

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

But... Everyday's great at your Jnes!

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For christ's sake, this EXACT SAME THING has been reposted about three times now. Same pictures, same description. God...

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

There is no god. Only reposts.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Best emulator for n64 if you have a mac or use linux/ubuntu is mupen64.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Best emulator: Retroarch. Will basically replace 75% of what's on this list, and usually do a better job. http://www.libretro.com/

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Xbox one : best emulator: Xbox360

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

VisualBoyAdvance-M is better than VisualBoyAdvance. VisualBoyAdvance's last stable release was over 10 years ago.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Best PSX emulator would be PSXFIN - 1:1 psx emulator and runs on everything.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

1:1? Are you kidding? It has tons of compatibility issues. It's closed source and the development is dead. Mednafen is far superior.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Compability issues? Where? I never had any trouble with that emulator.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Best emulator pack: openEmu

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

What's an emulator

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Why the fuck was I downvoted?! You guys are no help

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

tl;dr; version is you can play Wii/playstation/gameboy/etc... games on your computer. Which lets you increase the graphics too.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

WHERE'S THE DREAMCAST

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ems exist for Dreamcast / Saturn, but they're not great given the complexity of the systems. Look into "Hyperspin".

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis When I was dead broke, man I couldn't picture this

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

50" screen money green leather sofaw

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

HIgan is a better SNES emulator than SNES9x

12 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 7

Higan is as accurate as you can get to the true snes experience, while snes9x is more versatile for rom hacks.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Bsnes is the core Higan uses for SNES emulation.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah, Higan is Bsnes's successor, since development of it as a standalone has stopped.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Eh, "better" is a subjective term here. Higan emulates the SNES as accurately as possible but has higher requirements and lacks many [1]

12 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 5

Play speedy gonzales on snes9x and higan and we'll talk again.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"The vast majority of games" clearly implies some games will have issues with 9x. Most do not.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yeah, higher requirements, that's a real struggle. We're not running Pentium 3's anymore.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

on modern but especially low end computers. [2]

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's been awhile since using Higan but if memory serves correctly, the emulator, at least the accurate version, would still slow down [1]

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You don't need to run the accurate version unless you really need to. The balanced edition is still much more accurate than SNES9x.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

features and enhancements found in SNES9x. 9x runs the vast majority of games without any noticeable bugs. I'd recommend it over Higan [2]

12 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 4

RetroArch with the bSNES balanced core is the best. More accurate than SNES9X, tons of shaders/options, and only moderate requirements.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anyone who wants to just play SNES games, I recommend SNES9x. Higen is just for museum-like preservation-level accuracy.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Yeah, agreed; that's a good way of putting it.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Like what? Online Multiplayer is the only thing I can think of, and it's garbage. Many games have bugs, they're just "hacked" to work.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The online feature is one. It's far from perfect but it was usable for me and buddy to play SNES games together online. 9x also [1]

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

has more video enhancement features, a (in my opinion) much more intuitive interface, more save state slots that use hotkeys, etc. [2]

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's "better" in that it's 100% compatibility instead of 99.99% like SNES9x, but practically requires an i7 while SNES9x can run on phones.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I've had higan/bsnes running fine on i3s and lower-end AMD APUs no problem. Sure you can't run it on a phone, maybe in another 5-10 years.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Which core? Also, considering my Pentium1 75mhz could emulate snes games with sound and low frameskip, Higan's requirements are ludicrous.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

First gen core-i3 ran it fine. Sure a P1 could emulate a SNES, but those emulators use workarounds/hacks and are not truly cycle-accurate.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I meant which core did you use in Higan, it has multiple. The Performance core is the default one, and on par with SNES9x's accuracy. (1/2)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's hard to say SNES9x is compatible with roms when it requires a giant list of hacks to run them. Higan doesn't use any hacks.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Only in the accuracy core, it's on par with SNES9X with the performance or balance cores. Also, snes9x doesn't require practically an i7.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh, there is also the fact that it forces you to convert your roms into it's own "hundreds of files in hundreds of subfolders" format....

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Wut. I'm playing earthbound on it right now and it kept it as an SFC file.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sweet, tell me more about things HIGAN hasn't done in 2 years.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And drasticDS best DS emulator for androids. Coolrom.com has all of the games you could ever want.

12 years ago | Likes 89 Dislikes 1

Hope they do a 3ds emulator as well (in 2d)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also for PC users I use dESmume to play Nintendo DS games, and it works very well

12 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Gotta give this one a shot, I've been looking for a DS emulator but the ONE I did try was awful. Think it was no$gba?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

no$ is decent, but dESmume is far easier to use. I would highly recommend.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's working like a charm.

Best available Emulator: OP's mom

12 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 2

Xbox One - Best available emulator: PC

12 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 4

You have a very bad definition of "best emulator". Project64 is horrible. Try the emulator 1964. FAR superior. For NES I recommend Nestopia.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Almost all of the emulators chosen by the OP are pretty terrible where accuracy is concerned.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Also - There are no working PS3/X360/PS Vita emulators. If you see any, they're bullshit, scam and viruses.

12 years ago | Likes 91 Dislikes 0

they're working on it though - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAk">jidpA0">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAk0_jidpA0 | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQEv6B6fIgA

Don't forget about 3DS

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Any idiot knows the PS3 isn't emulated yet, who would be stupid enough to download one of those? Ohh! The PS4 emulator finished downloading!

12 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

You'd be surprised

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

It was a joke, hence the mention of downloading a PS4 emulator.

12 years ago (deleted Mar 1, 2016 1:04 AM) | Likes 0 Dislikes 0

I honestly still refuse to believe those weren't faked. I've seen people do insanely stupid things, but that's just too much.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why?

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It takes something like 10x-100x the CPU power to properly (and accurately) emulate the instruction set of a system. 1/2

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Since the PS4/Xbone use X86_64 instruction set (normal PC set) they will be emulated long before a PS3 or 360 emulator is running fluidly.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The CPU and GPU need to be emulated in their entirety. Very difficult to do with more modern tech. The 360 added an extra chip so it could.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Project64 is not considered the best. It's popular, but not flexible or most compatible. Try https://code.google.com/p/mupen64plus/

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wanted to play Shadow of the Colossus. DL emulator, asked me to DL bios and other stuff, gave up :(

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

That game is awesome

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

look it up on youtube. thers a walkthrough that works wonderfully

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not too complicated given a bit of research. Try googling PS2 Bios. The first couple of links should be solid.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You know that this one of those posts that it's going to hit the front page as soon as you see it.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Not to mention how helpful it is. Thanks OP.

Some more/better emus;

12 years ago | Likes 0 Dislikes 0

SNES - ZSNES Sega Genesis - Gens or something like that, PSP - PPSSPP, DS - DSMEMU or something like that

12 years ago | Likes 0 Dislikes 0

ZSNES has absolutely terrible compatibility. Use ZMZ (http://www.smwcentral.net/?p=section&a=details&id=5681) if you really love that UI.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

DeSmuME.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Eh, some of these are wrong. Best SNES emu for Windows is ZSNES. NES has multiple good ones - Nestopia being my fav. Gens is good for Sega.

12 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 5

Zsnes is horrifically outdated now, snes9x is the way to go. Higan is useless overkill unless you are preserving games in a museum.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

DO YOU HAVE ANY SUPPORTING ARGUMENTS TO GO ALONG WITH YOUR OPINION THAT ZSNES IS BETTER?

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You know your emulators. For N64 I reccommend 1964.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Your SNES suggestion is even worse.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

ZSNES is best at creating nostalgic feelings. It's terrible for everything else. Higan is best, SNES9x is meh if you're running on a potato.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Idk; I haven't played too many snes games but snes9x has been working out great so far for me. However, its interface is SO MUCH better 1/2

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

than zsnes's wonky one, that I'm never going back to that. ...And for NES, I use fceux and I'm happy.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

fun fact: You can get these on your android phone!

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

Prove it

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I've got ff7 emulated on my phone, works great.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you can goto the play store and search gba/n64/snes emulator and you will find something

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in the subject, but given enough requests I may post a tutorial.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How? Please

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As an android user... How!!!??¿

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For ps1 games I use psxe

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fun Fact: Emulating older games was a big unofficial selling point of the PSP.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Not to mention downloading other psp games.. lol

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still the best handheld emu machine available.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Indeed, and the Vita too.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: PS2 can still be bought at game stop, so can the games. Why the fuck you need an emu?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fun Fact: Anyone who says this never tried playing a gamepad-based game on a 100% touchscreen device... Sure, they RUN, but are unplayable.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Maybe not the PS2/Dolphin Emu's, but I've been playing NES - N64 flawlessly on my devices since 2010, & up until recently with a Wii remote.

Yeah, I've paired my Wiimote and my PS3 controller to my iPhone. It's slick.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah you need a bluetooth controller (ie: moga)

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

People typically don't just carry those around as often as their phones, not to mention they tend to be bulky.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not true. Depends on the controller complexity. All the gameboys, DS, and SNES/NES play FINE.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I heavily disagree on that, anything that isn't turn based is unplayable with on screen d-pads and buttons, like platformers or beat-em-ups.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unless your PC is hopelessly outdated, just go Higan/BSNES for your Nintendo fix.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

People just don't care about accurate emulation :-(

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

WHen you say accurate what do you mean? What differences are we talking here?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ZSNES.

12 years ago | Likes 133 Dislikes 14

zsnes + xbmc + wiimote + classic controller + roms = hours of fun!

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Hell yeah, ZSNES is where it's at.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Horrible. I used to love it and paraded it over snes9x for years, but it's garbage now. Doesn't even support SDD-1, others did years ago.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

What's SDD-1? SNES9x had a terrible interface when I tried it, and I never did again.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A chip that allowed for on the fly gfx decompression, a few late games used it. Most notably Star Ocean.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Used to be the best but snes9x has stepped it up in recent years.

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Not for all the engine options and virtual surround sound. User Interface is way easier too for beginners. In short, ZSNES is STILL better.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I got dis one and I like it

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

The layering in that program is total garbage. There's games you just can't play on ZSNES because of it. Snes9x. c:

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Unless you have a NASA PC, the only real option.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Umm, my Windows Mobile phone from 2006 could run a Snes9X port ok, how ancient is your PC? I thought used ZSNES when I had a Pentium1 75mhz.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Way worse than Snes9x in accurate emulation of the hardware, especially re:audio.

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 5

Way better than Snes9x

12 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 7

I have no id-SNES9x-idea what you could pos-SNES9x-possibly mean by that. SNES9x. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xt2uyDqbA-Q

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

English mothafucka?

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

ZSNES devs didn't give a shit about accurate emulation, so there are a lot of games with significant issues. It is bad.

12 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

I loved ZSNES! But I heard Snes9x is better. Wait. Never mind, I'm just gonna go play my SNES instead

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Great idea, I can't wait to boot up the unreleased Star Fox 2 beta in my SNES... oh wait :(

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Can't wait to play Earthbound on my SNES! Wait, 150$ for a cartridge!? -boots up Snes9x-

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I still want Earthbound for my collection though. That strategy guide was so freaking awesome! D: SCRATCH AND SNIFF BOSS STICKERS.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It's funny, because most of these are wrong.

12 years ago | Likes 214 Dislikes 54

Yeah I reacted to that too, having spent more than a few years playing games on emulators, wanting to get the least "glitchy" ones.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Project64, VBA, PCSX2 and Dolphin are all correct.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mupen for 64, Higan for GBA. Can also use BizHawk for NES and SNES, and BGB for Game Boy. PCSX2 and Dolphin are obvious choices.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

OPINIONS!

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Actually, no. With emulators you can objectively prove that one is more accurate at reproducing the original hardware than another.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's far more to consider than just that, such as system requirements, features, accessory support, etc.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not really, no. The point of emulation is to recreate the original hardware in software. Being able to play retail games is just a byproduct

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The "point" of emulation is whatever you want to use it for, for most that is just to play the games, making Higan massively excessive.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I haven't played with a lot of Sega or arcade emulators and I can't remember if Jnes was any good but the rest I'd say are spot on.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Personally I find Fceux to be much better than Jnes.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it's funny cause u drop that with no explanations ..

12 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 3

Find me a better 64 emulator than Project64 and I'll upvote everything you've ever posted until my wrists stop responding to commands.

12 years ago | Likes 121 Dislikes 3

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1964_(emulator) - HOLY SHIT so much better! You have no idea how much better this one is.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I currently use sixtyforce for a 64 emulator and it's pretty good except you can't save at all.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Considering some of those old games took me weeks to beat, I'm not sure "Can't save" qualifies it as "Better than project64." :p

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

mupen64 is much better.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I...wasn't expecting this many people to answer. I might have to hire a team to help with the upvotes.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Something by the name of CEN64 or something similar. It's really early right now, but it's got amazing progress. Accuracy instead of better.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

There's a reason no tool-assisted speedrunning community uses it. It's horrendously inaccurate. Mupen64 is the most common alternative.

64 emulation is just mad janky as fuck bro sorry :<

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Try 1964.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

1964

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Is there a better one for PS2 than pcsx2?

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

the original games on an original PS2, but damn is it nice to be able to make them look better and play on my PC. (2/2)

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I honestly doubt it. I've been using it a ton ever since I found out about it. I have occasional odd graphical issues that weren't in (1/2)

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

No, there is not.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Currently P64 1.7(?) is the least flawed as far as I know. I heard rumors of a project a while ago aiming for full compatibility, but--

12 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 5

You should really try 1964. I have no idea why people are still using Project64.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Cen64. Seems a little dead in the water atm. Only other active project is Mupen64plus i think

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

what about 2.0/2.1?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you want accurate emulation, anything 2.X is bad. They run some games at a slightly higher framerate than the original console.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

-- nothing really since. N64 emulation is just too wonky for many people to put the effort into.

12 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Least flawed = best

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Generally, but I didn't want to imply that it was without issues.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

PJ64 has the WORST save compatibility in the world.

12 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

PS1, N64, and GBA ones are all correct, and I don't know too much about the others to have an accurate opinion.

12 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

actually, the GBA one is wrong! There is a fork called VBA-M which improved upon the original quite a bit: http://vba-m.com/about.html

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fusion is a godsend,I can tell you that.I personally prefer ZSNES over Snes9,though both are good. I think Kawaks is much better for arcade.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its funny when people downvote comments like this and then don't give any alternatives.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

PS1 is definitely not correct. Mednafen and Xebra are much more accurate than ePSXe. Mupen64Plus is also a better alternative for N64.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

hahaha nice dipshit

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Gens is my emulator of choice for Genesis, but I don't require much from my emmies beyond playing the game.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Will DEFINITELY disagree with ps1 emulator. PSXFIN is the best. Simple. Straight up emulation. Only one that runs FF9 correctly.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

While I agree ff9 is a really tough game to get working, epsxe has worked for a larger # of my old games without individual tweaks to each.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's a hotfix in epsxe that shows the menu arrows correctly. I've played it through twice on there.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Know a better one for arcade games? I've been dying to play klax

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

IT IS THE 90s AND THERE IS TIME FOR...KLAX.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not sure on a lot of MAME. Basically every update is incompatible with previous version game rips, so you have to look for compatible rips--

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Klax. That's not something you hear a lot.. Check out the Genesis version. In my opinion, it's on par or better than the arcade. Great game.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Btw, is your name a reference to FIDLAR?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is not. Coincidence. When I first started here, I kept getting messages like "SO WHAT FUCK YOU!" What did I do to these people?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

hahahahahahah that's excellent! If you're into skate punk you should check them out

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

dem some big claims, son. Cite sources, provide alternatives, front page would be yours.

12 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 4

Why are the claims big? I can also point out more than a handful there not being the most accurate emulators for said platform.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

saying "most of these are wrong" is a big claim, given how much information is on this page. Saying it without backing it up is a big claim.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

You let the presentation (big pics) fool you. It's just a paired list of platform:software, with a title claiming the list is "the best".

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

you must be new here.

rep and account age don't measure with too much accuracy though. Rep is directly related to how active (counterd by lurking (pre-join too))

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

to be fair he did provide a link to an article which (I assume has more info, though i haven't actually read it myself.)

would a 6 core 3.5ghz amd 12gb ram and a 3gb 280x work? :P

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I'll PM you later when I have time if you still need help

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Simple: To get your PS2 games to run on your pc take a working PS2 console and rest it on top of your PC box and run the game from that.

12 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 3

You need an SPCH2002.bin bios file to begin with. After that it's finding the right plugins/configurations

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Needs a working BIOS and a bit tweaking. Also you need a good PC.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Get a NASA computer

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even with great hardware, some old games are very cpu intensive. Games like Valkyrie profile 2 and Suikoden 3 need like 4GHZ to run smooth.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have a ps2. Everyone just come play with me.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What problem do you have? I got FFX up and running in 1080p within 5 minutes.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Try this software Daemon tools. and I've used this site in the past http://www.theisozone.com. Plus there is videos to help.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Inbox me with a good email or chat method and I'll help you work through it.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I found you need an absolute beast of a CPU to make it run even reasonably well. It's all about the CPU and nothing else

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

PCSX2 actually has a pretty good hardware driver that puts all the rendering load on your GPU instead of the CPU.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Phenom II X4 965 here and it runs fine. I just can't crank the internal resolution up to 1080p and expect it to run smooth.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i5 cpu from 2011 seems to do me fine, wouldn't call it a beast by modern standards. Emulating ps2 in 1440p, high framerate, no issues.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's really odd; I was running an i5 and it just didn't want to play nicely. Doing much better now though

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ill have to dig up my old dvd with all my roms on it.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ultimately, find the BIOS file and put it in the main folder. if it asks where it is, point it to that folder/file.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've tried finding a BIOS file before, but can't seem to do so.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You have to go to a website called ebay and search "used PS2". It sucks that you have to buy something for the emulation to work, but it 1/?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

is usually pretty cheap of a buy. When it arrives, instead of hooking it to your PC, use a standard television and you should be set.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Here's what's great about emulators: I can find all kinds of rare games FOR FREE.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yeah, but do you get the rush of opening a game case, popping open the disc tray before settling the disc into it's perfectly molded slot1/2

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then, with the push of a button and a mechanical whir, the drive closes and your adventure begins with the musical hum of PS2 fans running.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm past the point in my life where I care about that. I just wanna play.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

buy one for 30 dollars and plug it into your TV. emulates PS2 pretty well.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The resolution of a ps2 is very low and your tv will blur and upscale it badly. An actual emulator will give you a nice sharp hd image.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

haha. they stil look like shit stretched to 1080p. but better than composite input i guess.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have 2 PS2's, one original and one slim. I could just give you one. lol

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

PC master race! Ha! Losers. (Not really sure I know what I'm talking about)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you need a beefy computer

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just plug it in.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Often on some torrent sites people have the bios already. There may even with a few roms. So that would be easiest.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love still owning a PS2 <3

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

well a BIOS file and game for starters. the big difficulty is due to the plug in system the emulator uses (same with ePSXe). you need (1)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(2) firstly a pretty strong PC, multi-core (i5 or something like that), decent video card (GTX 760 or higher is my estimation) and (3)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(3) some fiddling with plug in settings, also there's a wiki for the emulator that can give special instructions for certain games.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You don't need quite that high end a system. I have Phenom II x4 3.4Ghz, 6GB DDR3 1600, 6770HD and it runs fine.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i'm not well versed in AMD.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You must strike a deal with every god in existence, then travel to the future and obtain strong enough hardware

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I gave up and just spent $25 on a used ps2

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They just work, I might be coloured by having done emulation for some time, but I've had very few issues with getting games to work.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you have to use the right bios

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Step one, buy a PS2, they are like 10 bucks.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just have an old PS2.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You don't.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lots of research, dedication and hair pulling.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Suprsingly my cell can play super Nintendo 64, Dreamcast ,SNES, virtual boy etc. I guess all emulators work on my cell lol

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1. you need a very good machine the emulation is still sketchy at best 2. you need a BIOS file for the region your games are in

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a bloody pain in the arse

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

TL;DR you need a strong pc overall because your pc is basically having to run a console and a game at the same time

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I have no idea, I got the game actually running, but now no matter what I do with the control settings, I can't actually control anything.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The PS2 was such an awesome console that it is hard to emulate it.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

download romstation. It comes with all of these emulators and they are fully fonctional and updated frequently.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

PCSX2 is so amazingly easy to use I don't understand your question.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 9

Same, I've had no problems getting games to run. Even on a 6 year old computer, they worked fine. My newer machine does them beautifully.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not sure why you're down here, I had no difficulty using it and I'm by no means a computer guru. My machine is also ~5 yrs old. /shrug

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's not as hard. All you need is to google the right BIOS file for the version of console you want to emulate. NTSC-U, NTSC-J, PAL.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

12 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Currently reading the complete works of Aeschylus, I actually understand this reference.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Better question, how do you get them running smoothly?

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ps2 emulator is only working with around 70% of most games for the past 4-5 years of development and they just got NHL games to work better.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You will need a gaming pc, emulation will be poor on old or non-gaming hardware.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even on my 8-core 4 GHz, with 12 GB RAM and a 7870, it seriously chugs at times.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mine works fine.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Simple answer is PS2 emulators cannot offload graphics resources to the GPU and they're 100% Cpu based. Get a mega core cpu

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Like many emulators, "fiddling" per ROM & pcsx2 is actually pretty good with most games now - used to be difficult to get it to work

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know very little about PC's and had no issues getting it working, the one I've struggle with is the Dreamcast emulator.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Step 1: You give up and pay 40 bucks on an old ps2.

12 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

40 bucks? I bought mine for 10 Euros + controller, that's maybe 15 Dollars. A friend of mine got a PS2 slim with some games for the same $.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

dude, you're so lucky. here in Brazil people're asking like 200 reais (around 85 dollars, or 64 euros) for an old ps2. digusting.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Now I know where to sell mine!

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

damn... Brazil's economy is seriously fucked up. I'm sorry, but couldn't you import it? Sorry, I have no idea if it is less expensive then.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's not man. Just some prices (imported eletronics mostly) are crazily high. But we have our ways...

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I truly don't know. I guess you can, but I don't think it's worthy.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lots and lots and LOTS of fiddling with settings, but its possible. You need a pretty good machine too, though- a LOT of PS2 games are(1/2)

12 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

a lot more resource intensive then you'd think. Looking at you, Final Fantasy X.

12 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

That one was absolute HELL to get configured. I think I've finally got it situated to be half assed tolerable though.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Had 0 issues with FFX (besides voices not always lining up). Had more issues with FFX-2 to the point that it was unplayable.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only 2 games I have problems with are Shadow of the Colossus and Metal Gear Solid 3. It's all in your system and PCSX2 Configuration [1]

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

These 2 games are also the only 2 known to not run on PCSX2 decently at all.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those are games I am interested in replaying, if you don't mind, could you tell me your PC spec to see how it compares to mine? tyvm.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

AMD P2 X4 955, 12GB DDR3 1600, HD6950. browse the PCSX2 forums for config assistance. those 2 games are known to not run smooth though

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hear that, I could always get it running though

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bios files, and other things that take the place of video thingies and such. Just read a bit about it you will learn anything you want :D

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A badass PC and some configuration fiddling.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You need a god of a machine. After upgrading last year I went from a 2fps to 120fps.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My PoS laptop with a intel HD3000 can run PSX. The settings are what's important.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Uhm, PSX worked alright, yeah. PS2 emulation is a different beast.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

oops, my mistake, thought we were talking about PSX.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, you just need a half decent gaming pc under 5 years old.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To be fair, that was my problem.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Basically, you don't. PS2 emulation is still in its baby stages. Most PS2 games just straight up don't work on an emulator yet.

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 7

Actually most of them work, and with the default settings. You just need a decent rig, 3.0 GHz and up + a good graphics card..

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I've still never seen anyone report any Jak, Ratchet, Sly, or DaH games properly.

Do you mean it runs like you're playing it on a ps2, or that it runs fine, but has annoying graphical errors?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

"Properly" as in THE ENTIRE FUCKING DESERT ISN'T BLACK

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I tried Jak 3 and the original Ratchet & Clank on PCSX2 a couple of years ago, both games worked. Ratchet & Clank needs to run in software..

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I understand that they work, but did they look like PS2 games, or did they act all glitchy? Like graphical errors and whatnot?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

..mode, otherwise you'll get lots of messed up textures. Requires a pretty powerful CPU to get good performance. Jak 3 ran okay in hardware,

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

PS2 emulation is fairly well functioning and complete. Most games work fine in my experience.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tell me every single thing about everything you've done, because the wiki itself and the rest of the internet can't get most games to work.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, you need a BIOS file, but I'm assuming you've gotten that far. The problem is that the software and hardware the PS2 used is old [1]

12 years ago | Likes 190 Dislikes 0

and cranky and kind of racist, much like my grandmother [2]

12 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 9

and very difficulty to effectively emulate, so it takes a ridiculous amount of resources (comparatively) to run PS2 games on a PC. [2]

12 years ago | Likes 154 Dislikes 1

Even when I was able to get the FPS to look normal-ish, the controller input had a quarter second latency that made it unplayable.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What controller are you using? And are you using hardware acceleration? It takes a lot of CPU to emulate, which means if you're using [1]

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

things like hardware acceleration or antialiasing or multisample, you're gonna be taxing your CPU to hell and giving yourself input lag. [2]

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've played it on my phone before and even plugged into power it will burn my battery life down a little at a time. Got a Note 2.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

and the correct 2.1 amp charger

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

What? There's no PS2 emulator for Android right now and won't be for a long time.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Shit your right it was FFIX so that was PS1. Damn I'm not sure if I should be sad or impressed.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It also can't emulate analog sticks, so games that ONLY use analog sticks you can't play (ie. ape escape).

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

You are doing something wrong. I use my PS3 controller with Motioninjoy (emulates X360 pad) and play Ape Escape flawlessly on my pc.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes it can... Just hook up any controller with analog sticks and button map it.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

thats called using a controller, but it cant actually EMULATE analog sticks. using a controller is real, not emulated.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

assuming you've gone through the guide and troubleshot it and are still experiencing low FPS or exploding textures, you're SOL. Sorry. [3]

12 years ago | Likes 104 Dislikes 1

Metal Gear 2 & 3 worked flawlessly for me . Maybe its something with the BIOS or Game Iso's that wasnt right.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've had trouble running games I actually have the disc for, such as Ico. Luckily, I found another PS2 for myself $30 and can play again.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

You are cool to help out so much, take a bunch of +1s!

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Always happy to be of service.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't have any issues... Hardware specs for those having problems please because my phone emulates PS2 games.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When I tried to get one working, the only game I managed to start up was Simpsons Hit and Run, and it was locked to Spanish even though [1]

12 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

¿QUE?

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I had an english version. It also only ran at like 5 frames per second and in slow motion for unknown reasons. Anywho I've given up on [2]

12 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

The language is set by the BIOS version. Play around with them until you get one in English, but make sure it matches the disc you're using.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

sadly, some games like Radiata stories were too much work to configure. but that's what you have to do, a ton of emulator tweaks. YGWYPF

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There is a pc version of that game.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

You could post your system specs, my bet is you dont have the ram or video card.(although any some what recent card is sufficient)

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I read Sorry as Sony. Dat kerning

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This. Tried playing Z.O.E, a 13 year old game on my Alienware last night, and it was slow as fuck. Really annoying.

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

if you hit F9 itll switch to software mode sometimes that helps but it looks like shit

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I did that, looked just fine because Z.O.E already looks like shit, but it didn't help. PS2 emulation takes a lot of power.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, unfortunately even if you can run most games, a lot of them just don't translate to an emulated copy effectively.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorry bud but Alienware is notorious for being way more expensive then it should be. visit r/buildapc

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Received it as a gift, would build a PC if I had the money. Believe me, I'm already quite knowledgeable.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, you answered yourself with that, it runs like crap because of the alienware

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That's not why. And yes, I know it is overpriced, save me the speech.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Z.O.E does not emulate effectively. Either one of them.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(2) However, I can emulate FFX International with the highest settings and no FPS loss. So it isn't a resource issue. ZOE just emulates bad.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Found that out the hard way... makes me sad, haven't played it since 2003 or so.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0
