That video above was filmed in the Northern Hemisphere, and this one in the Southern Hemisphere:

No, your video shows the economy as it is now: It all accumulates and is less distributed.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh damn. You're right.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Perfectly balanced. As all things should be.

How does it know it's the square glass...

Pascals theory of communicating vessels

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The romans used this for fresh water distribution. Aqueduct came into the city in only one place, but then 20 or 30 cisterns were hooked together with pipes and as long as a minimum amount stays in the very bottom so air didn't get in the pipes, the aqueduct would eventually completely fill every cistern in the system without the need for pumps or dudes hauling buckets.

I didn't realize Pascal was a communist!

Okay, and what if you break that law?

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The house of pain!

This inane pointing out the things these videos often do are enraging me to no end. I feel like a chimp being explained something. "Look here. Right here....not there....over here.... right here......do you see this glass?"

Boy, I sure am glad she pointed to the three glasses the camera is focused on, otherwise I would have thought the video was about the blurry chair in the background.

Ah yes my Fish tank needs cleaning

Manometer

as opposed to a manospherometer, which only siphons bullshit

Do dooo dododoot

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Does it work with other shapes or only square-ish glasses?

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

It works with roughly 33% square-ish glasses, and about 66% roundish glasses.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Seems like the roundish ones here are compatible.

It works with any shape of containers as long as there's an inlet/outlet s the liquid can flow between them and there's room enough for the liquid.

Sorry I made you go look for the docs, I was trying to be funny :))

Showed my boss this on a job site. Had a 50 gallon barrel of water but someone forgot the pump. Dropped a garden hose in and let it fill, plugged the end and pulled it out. Steady flow.

I, uh, didn't get a raise for this knowledge. I don't work there anymore.

Nothing pisses off people like that more than showing them you know something they didn't.

3 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Thanks for fingering my smoothy

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

How do they not have 3 of the same glasses to do this in?

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now write the differential equations calculating how much fluid is present in each cup at any point in time

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

1x goes toward 1/3 (x+y+z) in n milliseconds, 1y goes toward 1/3 (x+y+z) in p milliseconds, and Zero z goes toward 1/3 (x+y+z) in q milliseconds. Where 1y = 1x - 1m. Where m = amount removed by meddling with straw.

I’ve heard that nature abhors a vacuum, but this isn’t abhorrent at all

3 weeks ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

Of course, this is a video of the atmosphere abhorring a vacuum and trying to fill it.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But thats what 99% of the univers is, a vaccum or just empty space

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The generalized term is 'Nature abhors a gradient', since it applies to any type of energetic differential, not just pressure. The vacuum of space is only a vacuum with respect to a plenum; if there is no gas nearby, there is no gradient to degrade.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It doesn't go full vacuum.

3 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You never go full vacuum. Also, is there any other word in any language with a “uu?”

It's da law

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I don't. :(

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pedro Pascal is an actor who is on many movies currently.
Blaise Pascal was the guy that explained in the 17th century what happens with them glasses in the video (Pascal‘s Principle).

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

To prevent your children from fighting over whose glass is fullest. Brilliant!

3 weeks ago | Likes 159 Dislikes 1

This would mostly work if the glasses have the same shape / area, as this only equalizes the fluid height. Also, I think there's enough viscosity in the fluid such that the first glass will have a slightly higher fluid level than the originally empty glass.

Only if all three glasses are identical. It doesn't enforce equal volume.
