If 100 people lived on earth

As an Australian, I'm sad to see that an Australian won't make it as one of the last 100 people left after the apocalypse.

If only 100 people lived on earth everybody could have like, a million houses tho.

The first one made me wanna play Risk again.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A third of the world is Christian? Jesus Christ.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Everything is awesome

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm glad this is on The Internet

10 years ago | Likes 169 Dislikes 0

where the majority of the world can't see it :)

10 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

I'm not stupid. I know that there are at least 1000 people who live on Earth.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That's more than thirty percent!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those 14 who cannot read and write have access to the internet? If so, it's unfair.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They probably have to know English too to make good use of the Internet

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So... no Australia?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've never felt so grateful to have a degree. And now I can't think of anything to say that won't sound pretentious.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

be pretentious, you desrve it.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

As a high school dropout, go for it. + spare some change?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

70 people speak 90+ different languages each. That's pretty neat

10 years ago | Likes 224 Dislikes 3

It sounds even more impressive if you say 6,500 though.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Here I am only speaking one and knowing little snippets of a few others... dang.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Hahaha exactly what I was thinking!

10 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

This is just native lang, if it meant the most commonly known Lang it'd be english, most the world knows English even if only as second lang

100 of them are Lego people.

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I love that they were Lego people.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Anyone else think it was weird that the guy with half the money is also starving?

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

It's a first world thing. Starving yourself to look skinny/fit in more pumpkin spice

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Judging by that %50 of the wealth held by one person, I'm going to bet it would be 99 people really fast

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

98, since he's highly unlikely to be the starving one.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep people love stealing

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

...He's talking about murder.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Horribly he's right, someone who thinks they deserve that wealth would kill the rich person

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wonder if they define "Attended college" as including trade schools.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They need to specify if they actually mean real universities, too.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They actually may, you know... the statistic only says the people *attended* college.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That too.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

$ per day figures are BS. Some areas cost less to live in so you can spend less. This applies regardless of country. This should be based1/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

on what they can buy with that and if they have what the need or how happy they are. Those are far better indicators. Flawed statistics.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

PPP

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So basically percentages?

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

It's what percentage literally is. "Per centum" means "by the hundred" in Latin.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For people who checked out of math classes before getting to middle school

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Heh, as a math-headed person, I can still see the usefulness of this reduction as a visual aid. You look at percentages, they're abstract.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's one thing to SAY 14% of people are illiterate. It's quite another to show you 100 people, bring fourteen of them out, point at them,

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and SAY "these people cannot read or write". Looking at people, or even Lego facsimiles thereof, has more impact on most people than looking

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

at printed numerals.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With 100 people, 43 repost this, 65 complain about the repost, 1 lets the starving one die to end world hunger, and 1 speaks 6500 languages.

10 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 3

You are not good at math are you?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Just bad at typing. 55. Shoot.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really puts my struggles in perspective. I coulda been forced to learn 6500 languages.

10 years ago | Likes 218 Dislikes 0

You win.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That is like you can't read & write, you have no home, no internet, no phone, but you need to learn 6500 languages to earn $2 per day.

10 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

I can write, I just can't read

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You left out Australia.

10 years ago | Likes 92 Dislikes 7

And Judaism

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because it's less than 1% of the world's population.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

And Texas

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

Texas was once a country, but was never a continent.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Australia was likely lobbed in with Asia to round off an arm.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

yeah, prolly as Australiasia

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There are cities with a greater population than us, it's understandable

10 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

Only 2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But still, *cities*, with a greater population than one of the largest countries in the world. And Shanghai comes pretty damn close too

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The homeless number is too high, IMO. Maybe they are talking about refugees? Almost 25%?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It might be based on what is defined as a "home". But there are massive numbers of homeless in the 3rd world

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

If 1st world countries have 1%, then 3rd world would have to make up the difference for the ave. - over 50%? It maybe the definition diff.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

More than 50% of the population of Mumbai is considered homeless (ie they live in the slums), likewise the Favelas of Rio

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Chinese isn't a language.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's a collection of similar languages.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, this is great and everything. I love what you did with the Lego people, but umm, can I have a reference page attached to your post?

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Nope

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You drive a hard bargain.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Who needs facts when you have nice soundbites? Picturebites? uhh... gif-bites?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anyone else sitting here going 14 Americans but only 5 english speakers?

10 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 10

Pretty sure that was "the Americas", not just the USA

10 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Food for thought.. if only 7 went to college, who taught them? Cause I'm pretty certain you need a college degree to teach..

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 8

Wouldn't those teachers be in the 7?

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Only 1 is starving?!? I thought it was a bigger problem than that

10 years ago | Likes 119 Dislikes 6

They can only starve so long you know.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

1 in a 100. There are 318.9 million people just in America. Do the math. The number of people starving is staggering.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 4

The number is staggering only because so many people exist. Just saying.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

Starvation is different than malnourishment. You can eat rice 3x a day and not be anywhere near starvation but be severely malnourished.

10 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

Thx for underlining that. People tend to get confused with those two words. It's important to know the difference.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Poverty, Corruption and Overpopulation is the problem. Starvation have a way of fixing itself.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When we try to fix Starvation by giving poor people the absolute minimum we create Poverty, Corruption and Overpopulation. Ironic, isn't it?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

(sigh....) Yep, hell of a thing. Guess i won't then. Probably make 'em even more existentially miserable.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What you should do is support education, fix corruption, give out free birth controls and fight religion and superstition.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Word.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It will be, at the rate we're feeding them (just long enough for them to reproduce) :/

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

That's simply incorrect. People don't tend to want to be starving, giving people the ability to feed themselves helps everyone.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, not everyone, not the ones profitting of the starving people. e.g. grain delivered is made infertile and cannot be sown, just eaten

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I seriously doubt it's the problem you think it is. The military is a far bigger money sink than feeding the needy.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My question is what's the line between starving and underfed. The underfed group was pretty big and that's a significant problem too

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I would imagine that 'underfed' would mean "not getting enough nourishment, but eating enough that direct starvation is no threat". Such

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That is not underfed. The English word for that is malnourished, and it's very eat to be overfed and malnourished.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

people would be at increased risk for many health issues, and may die if any of those go from risk to actual... but they won't just starve.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At least, that's my assumed interpretation of the distinction between "underfed" and "starving". Malnourishment leaves you open to lots of

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

diseases or even a few types of organ failure, but starvation kills you directly, because you do not take in enough food to keep the body

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But is it the same 1 that controls 50% of the money

10 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 1

Who needs food if you have money

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Do dollars count for fiber in a diet?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Try living with money and no food for a month, tell me how it goes.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I'm sure I'd struggle an awful lot getting fed if I was rich. :-(

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope. You chose money over food, no exchanges!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ahem...buy...food...with the money.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Explain how.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm glad I'm the 44 percent with Internet so I can look at spicy memes all day.

10 years ago | Likes 1035 Dislikes 2

But who said you can read them spicy memes?

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

10 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 6

No 9gag here

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

nah you're the 1 homeless, starving guy, coz you don't know how to fuckin' survive, coz you sit on your fat ass lookin' at memes all day

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

10 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Beat me to it +1

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

But how many know what a truly spicy meme is? 20? 30? 90?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

* cat memes

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm glad I am part of the 75% with a smartphone so I can read porn star research and perform experiments at the same time.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I find it amazing and humbling that big tech is actively trying to solve the internet issue, but 25% still don't have phones.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What if I have a phone but never use it?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still counts.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's not percent tho

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

44 out of 100 is 44 percent bruh

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had a brain fart. My apologies

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No worries :)
