Clearly a Rush fan. YYZ is the beacon signal of Pearson International Airport in Toronto. The opening theme of the Rush instrumental YYZ is the Morse code for those three letters.
I always liked when they'd do it live with the drum solo bit near the end. Alex and Geddy would just kinda wander off for a few minutes and leave Neil there going bonkers playing everything he could hit.
Yesss the dude was awesome. Meanwhile Geddy exited while saying "Some of us are no spring chickens so we must take a break. Neil will keep you company."
Another music and aircraft connected morse code tidbit. The airnav beacon on Capitol Records tower in LA blinks out the morse for “Hollywood” which is the part of the city they are located in.
My final act as a bass player (and musician, for that matter) was to learn it note-for-note. Once I could comfortably play along with it start to finish (something I thought impossible as a kid) I gave up playing for good. Mission accomplished.
Dude, you should get back into it. See if you can find some people to play with. I did that a year ago and it's really done wonders for my general well being. Now I don't want to do anything else
I did something similar with the bass line from Roundabout. I had the good fortune of being able to ask Chris Squire about that bass line years ago. He told me there are actually three bass parts, two dubbed over the main and to just focus on the main bass line as he did in live performances. That helped but it was still difficult to learn
Well that's what you get for driving through Red Sector A. That's just natural science. Then they catch you, and bam, you're riding the Cherry Beach Express. er wait that's a different Toronto band.

Too bad is not “2112 RTB” then they would have 2 albums.

Jack, relax, get busy with the facts, no zodiac or almanacs, no maniacs in polyester slacks. Just the facts. Gonna kick some gluteus max

Fun fact: if you see a Rush bumper sticker on someone’s car there’s a good chance the ATM or home alarm pin is 2112.

bullshit, nobody can play YYZ. Neil Peart is a god
bikergeek6249
Well, he is *now*. Sort of ascended. RIP.
CaptainBlacklung
Niel Peart would never want to be a god, though. He was a humble person.

Red Barchetta the song makes me get speeding tickets. I feel like the law should have a caviot just for that song.

Sorry, don't think I'm nerd enough to get this...
VulpesIncendium
The licence plate. 2112 is a Rush album, and YYZ is a Rush song (and also the airport code for Toronto Pearson airport).
usernametakenisthestoryofmylife
Oh. Thanks. But how did they get YYZ out of 'Toronto Pearson airport'?
VulpesIncendium
It's too complicated to explain within Imgur limits, but here's a detailed explanation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IATA_airport_code#Canada

I've seen Rush live three times, my favorite album is 2112. The opening riff of the first song is just simply epic.
