My dad quit smoking a year ago after my mom passed away. He smoked 3-4 packs a day for the past 40 years (he's 55 now) and he did it cold turkey (without aid of patches, gum, etc)

I downloaded a progress app even though 'no one would care' because it's just me and him left.

Well, one year, $6400 saved and 22,000 unlit cigarettes later.. I'm speechless. I thought you guys would like this kind of thing so yeah :) encourage your loved ones to quit! Anything is possible!

Congrats! 7 months for me and 1 for my fiance!!!! Feels so good doesn't it

Woah. Only 3 cravings resisted lol

What is this app? My dad is a chain smoker and has been for more than I've been alive (20 years).. depressing thinking about that..

Thank you guys for getting this to most viral! I can't wait to show him (even though he thinks the internet is the devil on some level)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow you guys are really good at this! I wonder how much I've saved by not folding to peer pressure in the first place!

Geez, after my mom died Dad gained 180 pounds of fat. But she cooks sometimes, so that's OK. Congratulations, OP's dad!

My dad smoked the same and for the same amount of time. REGULAR CHECK UPS! Cold turkey could be a shock to the system.

Congrats to your dad. I would suggest he visit his GP, he really should get a CT of his lungs.

I'm 10 days in myself!!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nice, I quit 2 years ago. Willpower is everything. I love the moment when you smell a cig and your knee jerk reaction is to avaid the smoke

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got 31 years without cigarettes. Where the fuck is all of my money?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's the name of the app?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're doing great!!! Keep it up. 1 year 5 months for me. It's a great feeling after 30 years of smoking.

Almost there- well done!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm at 11 months myself :)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's impressive. Lets sit around out side and have a few beers, and a few smokes.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

I'm not 21 for another 26 days. And you supply the brisket and sure, we can smoke it

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What app is that? I definitely want that

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Holy hell how does one even smoke 60-80 cigarettes a day!?

10 years ago | Likes 165 Dislikes 0

Dude there is no way he didn't have one in his hand every second of the day

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Started from the bottom now we're here.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When I was in afghan I was at 1 carton every 3 days.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Literally lighting you next cigarette with the one still in you mouth. My grandfather did it and died of a massive heart attack.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Practice.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

By having one lit at all times and smoking it in 3 drags

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Stressful job. And it didn't help that he rewarded every single thing with a ciggy. Ate dinner? Smoke. Poop? Smoke. Walk to the car? Smoke.

worked with a guy like this. A cigarette never left his mouth. It was one after the other...

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm 40 ish a day. How the hell have you only had 3 cravings? Or is it counted in millions?

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Probably just the ones that he logged into the app. I know when I was quitting I didn't want to acknowledge the craving's existence at all

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This app though, thanks!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been free for 21 years, 1 month, and 29 days

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Plot twist- you are only 21 years,1 month and 29 days old.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

thats a bingo

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good job babes! 8 months for me. Gained some weight, but still happy I no longer have this useless habit.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I managed to quit as well. I took the vaping way out and went down to 0 and eventually quit. I still vape on occasion for fun though.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All in all though, congrats :)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I started again but I'm ashamed to tell my gf I fucked up. I want to quit again but it's hard when you're alone. I'm such a piece of shit..

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You've done it once, right? Then you can do it again.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can do it!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you..

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I am so with you on this.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gah, 23,000. Not 22,000. My bad

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

What app, op? I am trying to quit and need motivation. Read: quit 5 times and need a nanny. Pls send hlp.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Smoke free is the app :) as for motivation, think about all the money you'll save! Oh, and not dying an early death is a good one too

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks! Quitting is the easiest thing I've ever done, I've done it a dozen times. But really, I want to quit. Thank you!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just downloaded the app. Thanks for the inspiration.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Glad to help! Good luck!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

An app like this would be neat for other bad habits, like sodas or other junk food.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wow you guys need more expensive ciggies, not smoking 3packs a day here in Aust. would save you about $22k.

10 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Work in a shop in Hawaii, average pack is 9 to 10 dollars. And you have to be 21 to purchase!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah it's only , on average, about 6 bucks a pack. I hear it's insane in Australia

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yeah it is just grabbed a carton of five $115 that's a weeks worth how people have the money to smoke in this country I don't know.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

10$ a pack in Canada. Cheapest possible pack is 9.30 and it's aas

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They would just roll their own. Cost goes down. Desire does not fade.
