No, Canadian armed foces will not be an obstacle if he decides, and the generals enable, an invasion. Hopefully it doesn't come to that. Canada is/was one our closest allies, every American civilian should be thinking about how they can disrupt any military effort targeting Canada without directly confronting the US military.

Dang ... now I've got to explain the joke: Detroit is already a borderline recovering war zone with vast areas depopulated with neighborhood blocks in some areas only having one or two inhabited homes ever since American manufacturing left the city to slowly die while the city government kept spending like they still had manufacturing support. The army setting up a Forward Operations Base (FOB) would be an immediate improvement in infrastructure for the city.

The FOB part? Yeah, I wouldn't have caught that. I'm well aware of the current state of Detroit. I was in Michigan during the 2008 bubble pop, the next decade was bad and not much has improved. It was slow death... and then the housing bubble debacle, plus 2 of the big 3 declaring bankruptcy.
I image the US army getting there and being very confused, right before the residents that are left vehemently defend their territory.

I liked the older model where a guy would feel unimportant so they'd use their own money to build and stock a library or rec center and put their name on it, but give it to the municipality. That was cool. They don't really do that nowadays.

I mean that one was going to happen in 2028 regardless of who won last November. That strike has been years in the making and is unrelated to this administration. It's all to do with when their existing agreement ends. Better not to lump it in with the current wave of protests.

It is already to late. Protesting doesn't work against a dictatorship. The next large protest will have martial law declared. Americans will be murdered by US military on US soil. People will applaud it and cheer as all their rights and freedoms and taken away. We had one chance and the American people fucked it up and now it's over.

They're important because they can galvanize a movement. They give an audience to anyone who is able to step up and lead that movement. Versus everyone sitting at home and twiddling their thumbs. The protest is step 1 of getting people out there, using their voices, and becoming part of whatever comes next. It doesn't matter if Trump ignores them, that's not the point right now. People have to get together, they have to feel they're not alone, they have to connect with like-minded people, or /1
