Ramp work is actually pretty fun with the right crew. I work a comfy IT job now, but I'd absolutely go back to the ramp if I needed to.
Depending on who you're working for and where, it's fast-paced in bursts, but you often have plenty of time to chill between flights.
Just be prepared for some weird shifts. Newcomers usually get evenings, or at least that's the way it was at WFS.

Many airlines will not accept visibly sedated pets on board, for liability reasons. Check with your vet, but also the airline.

Yeah the only exception I have encountered is for a service animal. That’s really kind of messed up. They don’t even let you buy him a seat
