I started with Herbert West: Reanimator. Get a collection of stories, that's what I did. The Music of Erich Zahn is good too. All are good.

You can start anywhere but most of his work comes in collections. The Rats in the Walls was the first thing I read and it got me hooked.

Also, reading order *does* sort of matter but not for the usual reason. Some of his stories blow the mystery on other stories.

Start with the Call of Cthulhu. It's short and it gives you a great introduction to the mythos - and a good idea of his style

Assuming that you're talking about the novelisation "Necronomicon: The Wanderings of Alhazred" by Donald Tyson, then yeah.It's pretty great.
