Isn’t the cabin pressurized?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If the doors are open, the only pressure is atmospheric

Just a little bit of soft power propaganda.

Judging by the landscapes pictured, it looks like it's mostly of Canada and Greenland. It looks like they are on their way to Thule.

Gory, gory what a helluva way to die!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do these guy know what Fortunate son song really means?

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yes, do you know what the song really means is the question? Of course they know what it means, but its a point of pride to them that they are not the rich /influential kid who can get out of duty when duty calls because of their connections.

New Avatar looking pretty lit.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is the way.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

While those safety lines are good to have, they are all long enough you could end up flopping about on the outside of the plane, which, while better than dying, can't be all that nice

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

So do the come with doors as a standard? Or is it a box everybody in army procurement forgot to tick?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's funny how an anti-war song has been twisted from it's original message to support soldiers.

2 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

I would think that most soldiers would be anti-war. Just because they are willing to do what needs to be done doesn't mean they are pro-killing.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They know they are the unfortunate son. They are often well aware they are the pawns of the elites.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

I mean, the first movie to feature the song in a Helicopter scene was Forest Gump, about a mentally deficient man picked up by the draft.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

no one really has any control over how the populace uses vernacular. Remember when the word "woke" came out? It is completely different from when it came out. Gay used to mean happy.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

As a former soldier myself - We know exactly what CCR is singing about - there may not be a "random" draft that somehow never selected rich kids any more, but there still are not many rich kids joining the military. Trying to pay my tuition was how I ended up in Iraq. -- Although, I just googled a bit of the demographics of the u.s. military, and found that the middle class has more enlistees than the poorest quartile of U.S.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, the rich kids got 5 deferments each and then used medical excuses like bone spurs and asthma. But yeah, it’s gotta be nice to be a Senator’s son.

People don't listen to Lyrics. Reagan used Springsteen's Born in the USA as a political rally song, thinking it's pro-US. Some reich wing congressperson remarked to some reporter about "when did John Mellencamp get so political?" Because people think Pink Houses is pro US because it says "Ain't that America?" when it's about how the American Dream doesn't apply to poor people.

They use a lot of Rage Against the Machine for army themed stuff apparently. Some dude showed me a video and was like "this is dope, cos it's got gunshots" and I didn't even know what to say to that cos that is just about the most idiotic choice of song I've ever heard. I mean really, what machine do they think is being raged against, honestly.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Not sure if it's true but supposedly the Navy approached the Village People about using "In the Navy" as a recruitment song. ummm, sure, why not?

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I think everyone in that room knew exactly what they were doing. - former soldier

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Fun little story, I used to work for tech support for a dial-up Internet provider. One guy who called in a lot had the most amazing radio voice and one day I mentioned it to him. Apparently he used to fly into Vietnam and fly wounded soldiers out. He was called The Gentleman Flyer of the Pacific because he always had the exact same smooth calm voice not matter what was happening around him. I wish I remembered his name.
