Itzpapalotl is an Aztec goddess who's name translates Obsidian Butterfly, and she is described as having a skeletal head and bat wings tipped with obsidian blades. The inspiration for this project was to make an Aztec style machete, and what better way than to make a blade for the god of Obsidian and second Lord of the Night.
TehStoner
Is that full damascus?
CaptainVoronin
When you really want to hurt someone but also want the blade to be caught on loose skin
ItsAGameOfSchlongs
Will this make me vanquish my enemies?
werewolfen
WOW!!!! That thing is amazing. I want to try to make one, it's brutal.
peregrineza
Want so hard
Mystakaphoros

azazyel
Not very good for cutting people's hearts out though.
phallicbabymobile
As beautiful as it is inefficient.
ematic
As an amateur knife maker, I thought about having to sharpen it... and no longer want one..

BartimaeusTheFat

pineapplepuppy

Real Aztec-style sword:
dankpotato
Field tested - Damascus steel Bowie knife, Valued at around 50 keys. low ball = -rep.
Jabberwockxeno
To people wondering: actual aztec swords (macuahuitls) were huge wooden clubs studded with obsidian razors on the edges, according to 1/2
Jabberwockxeno
..first hand accounts, they could decapitate horses, probably since obsidian can be only 3 nanometers thick (seriously) at the edges and 2/3
Jabberwockxeno
...on top of that, you have a huge amount of blunt force from the club, which smashed and crushed as much as it sliced. 3/3
bane83
-1 for not so subtly claiming this is your own work
Cambino
What would "(I wish I had a lot of money)" mean if not that he wished he could use that money to buy this blade?
Cambino
That's a horribly awkward sentence and I'm sorry I made you read it.
bane83
Haha, I see your point though. It was more the yak about the project in the middle and lack of credit to artist I was on about.
Cambino
Yeah, it's a total dick move to not post the source on things like this.
GifMasterFleX
Really??? No stats??? Can it be enchanted?
November15
fucking want
pedrothedude132
Let the white walkers come near me!
popculturella
Skeleton head and metal bat wings....that's the most metal goddamn thing I've ever heard.
ThatDwarfWhoStealsYourOpinions
Why did he make it look like obsidian instead of just making the damn thing out of obsidian?
[deleted]
[deleted]
ThatDwarfWhoStealsYourOpinions
Not exactly. It shears easily but doesn't break easily. Knives can be made by striking a piece of obsidian until it flakes down to an edge.
ThatDwarfWhoStealsYourOpinions
It also forms an edge much finer and sharper than any metal.
TheBurgundySwansonBaconScotchLovechild

All the onions! I won't use them... but I just can't get enough of this blade!
tootalltom
I'd chop my dick off with it. You know why?
SupermassiveZebra
Fine, I will ask him. Why?
tootalltom
'Cause I'm a boss!
SupermassiveZebra
Huh. Not really a satisfying answer, I must say. Not worth it.

darthj3d
Fuck sharpening that. Fuck sharpening that right to fucking hell.
thirddamacount
Why?
darthj3d
You'd have to file every one of the groves individually. You couldn't use a whetstone like you usually would. It'd take absolutely forever
MoreCowBellBaby
Better harden the blade hella hard, then sharpen it good, and don't cut anything hard
thirddamacount
Oh. Well thank you for teaching me something new
KillingTheJoke1
At least give the fucking source: https://tempestcraft.squarespace.com/

The website guy makes them as art for clients, so yeah.
FrostyOblivion
Would you happen to know how much something like that Gaul's Bane goes for? Didn't want to waste that guys time just for prices yet
KillingTheJoke1
If you're not prepared to pay thousands, don't waste his time.
FrostyOblivion
"No" would've sufficed. Thanks.
