Look for me if my daughter ever told me or displayed to me that she was bi, Trans, gay, or felt she should be a boy.....to he'll with everyone else, her choice is her choice and I'd fight anyone over it
#notgrooming #dragqueens #sheisthebestmom We should ALL be like this woman! Teaching our children to be themselves and live their best life. Representation matters! Thank you Brock’s mom for showing us how to be better moms! Internet mom of LGTBQA+ child. Just because I like raspberries, hating you for liking blueberries is just as rational!
I’m Catholic. I attended the same church for over 20 years. When my pastor began preaching LGBTQ+ hate from the altar I told my trans son, “God made you. God loves you. You’re perfect.”
It has been four years and we have never returned to that church.
This is the ONLY reason I'm sad I'll never be a mom, cuz my kid could come out doing cartwheels with his thing tucked or butcher than nick Offerman or anywhere in between and I would be like YESSS LET'S FUNKING GO, KID!
And there are people out there who WANT kids, but only on THEIR terms, which is fucking bullshit.
But besides being accepting, my genes didn't include maternal ones, so I'll stick to being a total and complete ally in whatever way my people need me.
Am I the only one that thinks we're heaping a disproportionate amount of praise on a mother for "accepting" her own child? Like, that should be the default. The absolute lowest bar. I'm gay and when I hear that someone "accepts" me, I prickle. It suggests that there's something fundamentally wrong with me, but THIS person is willing to overlook it. "noble me, I get a cookie for treating you like a human being." My gayness isn't something for you to process and decide how to treat me.
I don't see disproportionate praise; I see a lot of "this should be standard." Just most people aren't getting upset at the mother, because there's zero reason to be.
Also she said she decided to NOT turn her back on her son and walk away from him. That should be a "errr.... GOOD?!" I guess I don't understand the so-moved-imnotcryingyourecrying gif responses to something like that.
I didn't mean to imply I'm upset at the mother. I'm upset that in 2024 being gay is still something to "accept". I hope you understand where I'm coming from.
You do realize that, everyone who enters anyones life, and becomes friends, is because they have accepted them as-is, right? It's not just straight people accepting lgbtq people, but that's the emphasis society has going on atm. If you are friends with an asshole, people might ask "How can you be friends with this person?" And your response would likely either include the word "accept" or be an "accepting" explanation, and noone would nitpick you "accepting" them. I've had a bunch of people >
from the lgbtq community as friends or people I knew, and my brain always thought of them in the same way I thought my my straight friends, but inevitably, if people were to try and quantify that relationship, no doubt they would say I was "accepting" that person as they were, not because they are some abomination, but just because acceptance is a thought process.
I'll repeat what was the most important comment the last time I saw thos posted here. Look at the other drag queens' faces, they're crying for two fold, that this is a heartwarming moment, and that they never got the same warm welcome from their parents. Brock is an outlier, and that is utterly heartbreaking. Parents must love their children no matter what, but where they fall short we must love one another even more.
I love my son. I try to show him that love and support every chance that I get but I also know that so many others do not have that love and support and my heart breaks for them. I cannot imagine my life without my son right in the middle of it.
I don't care if my son grows up to be straight, gay, bi, man, woman, or anywhere in between. So long as he is happy and does not spend his life hurting others, then I am proud of him and whatever he becomes
"I used to think that children were given to me so that I could mold and shape them. Actually, it's the reverse. Children were given to me so that they could mold and shape me."
This is def how it has been for me. I thought I was so prepared to be a mom, and when I adopted my 8-year-old twins (one boy one girl and the boy is autistic) it quickly because clear that I was not prepared and I didn't like my default mom mode. I think I have changed and grown even more than they have over the past 8 years.
Because: a) god doesn't exist b) their silly book of myths is chock full of homophobia as a cherry on top of its mysogyny and this whole "first translation to mention homosexuality was 1950 or whatever" is an absurd apology against all reason trying to whitewash what should be damned
I know your intentions are whole hearted here but be very careful with this. I’ll just say, it made me feel very different than you may be hoping it would.
How did you interpret it? It might have been worded slightly differently originally, when I read this quote it was a gay person responding to a homophobe.
The implication this could have that I am God’s plaything here, for other people to learn lessons from, is definitely a way this can be interpreted. Not saying everyone will think that, just warning you to be cautious when this is brought up. All things are shades of gray, just saying as a perspective that people with trauma may have a really tough time hearing this.
We were created in his image. All that means is sentient and loving. All the other factors: gender, sexuality, color, race, wtf ever is all just part of the mix. Now jump in, mix that shit up, and enjoy the human race baby
You mean all other factors? Like how some are completely indifferent to suffering if it's just far enough from them, can disregard ongoing genocide, are ready to hurt and cheat for their own comfort? Because, you know, those are differences a bit more important than the melanin content of skin cells.
And, to be honest, it would explain a lot about it all.
I mean, we weren't because he doesn't exist. But yes, for those who need to believe for whatever reason, I do prefer they hold this view than others.
Also, I leave you with one of my favorite quotes (paraphrased): "We are both atheists. We both have thousands of deities we do not believe in. I just believe in one fewer god than you do, for all of the same reasons you don't believe in any of the others."
Funny how heavy a phrase can be even when it's surrounded by so much silly. I think the same about the "what is grief but love persevering?" line from Wandavision.
I'm sorry but I utterly loathe this. I'm not gay to "challenge" other people or give them personal growth. My marriage is not here to teach anyone about acceptance or make them less of an asshole. I'm not a lesson, I'm just a human being trying to live my life.
I'm totally with you. If someone thinks I'm only allowed to exist as a poor little sinner for xtians to have compassion towards, they need to reevaluate how they see queer people. Also I think religion is silly and deserves no respect, so that's probably part of it.
You can’t control what people learn from. Yes it’s just you trying to live your life. But you may be teaching others you’re not so different from them despite what they’ve taught by bigots.
Okay yes true. Happy to be a good example of normality for the bigots! I just didn't like the idea of being a lesson for Christians. Makes me feel less than a person. Like I was just created to test the rigteous like all the other suffering in the world.
I don’t think God tests us, I think dealing with all the stuff and others around us is all the testing needed. If you don’t follow Jesus’s teachings you’re not a Christian regardless of what you say. We are to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give aid to the sick and weak and nowhere does it say we have to like or agree with them. I know people can’t help being different (skin/body shape/trans gender/homosexual) and who you love, you love. Still will help you if you need it.
I hear you on this. But it can be both. Many of us are things, or do things, for the simple reasons of being happy in life. While others may see that same person, or community of people, and be inspired to accept and grow because of who they are and what they do. This happens in all aspects of life. I’m a cynical motherfucker at this point, but I hold on to this one small thing, because it has helped me be more accepting and try to be more understanding of everyone else around me.
I wish to understand why you existing means you are a challenge. I like to think that if someone believes in something and makes them a better person for society as a whole, why are you angry? I am not gay or Trans, simply heterosexual, so I am trying to understand
That sounds like a challenge lol. But some humans are seriously cool as fuck, had a good experience today where two different people could have fucked me over for money but didn't cause were honest (was helping out a stranger, long story)
