If nothing else, it really REALLY seems like he cares and is actually trying to do good shit. He doesn't get hung up on waiting for a PERFECT solution, but rather a solution that is better than what we had, and improves real people's lives TODAY. Which alone is better than Adams hands down.

But, but… it’s

The "I'm taxing the rich video" was great. In your face and telling you IDGAF these douchebags are paying up, and then watching dudes who make $40k a year in Iowa freaking out about it. We need more of that. Stop worrying about making that mythical undecided voter in flyover country upset.

Republicans hate the idea that government can be a force for good in the lives of ordinary people.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The establishment rich hate the idea that good in the lives of ordinary people equates to fewer opportunities to scam, cheat, steal, and grift the general public and the planet.

He literally balanced the budget

3 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

In regards to the "people don't know about the things Biden did", a lot of that is by design where the news purposefully didn't talk much about it. They'd bring it up once, then move on. One of the biggest threats to democracy around the world is having the news owned by rich people with an agenda.

On top of that Mamdani doesn't have half the legislative/judicial branch trying to sabotage everything he does at every step

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Really hope he can keep the momentum going and other cities follow suit. Things could be so much better.

3 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

He better claim credit for ending the Knicks title drought by bringing socialism to NYC; it'll piss off Dolan to no end

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Wait, no fancy ballrooms? No pools bigger than the Empire State? No invasion of New Jersey for its resources? Such a loser!

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Now, I wait and see how long it takes New Yorkers to forget all this is happening because he is their mayor. How long will it take for the GOP to cook up another propaganda with another candidate puppet when New Yorkers have some room to breathe, forget what Mamdani did for them, and vote for the other guy and get f over all over again...

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And guess where these millions went? In the economy. To plumbers, electricians, painters and carpenters. The money flowed. People's lives got better. A few people will buy their 3rd Porsche next month instead of this one.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The thread is worth a look. Made me wish I was a New Yorker.

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

#5 communication over even the small things is so key. Part of the calamity of the 2024 election is that Biden was too old to effectively communicate anything good in his economic platform, and now it's all been torn to shreds by Trump.

Look for the helpers

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The wildest part is he's not even doing stuff that's hard. It's just that everyone before him flat out refused to do it. It's all basic shit than any modern society should be doing

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Mamdani is proving that if you can make it in New York you can make it anywhere.

I wonder if anyone's written a song about that

3 months ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

There was that one song that called it Concrete Jungle Wet Dream Tomato.

3 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I think Nirvana wrote a song about that very concept

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maga voters think he should focus on a mayoral ballroom for fancy guest..and maybe put on a UFC event on public lands where he najws a few bucks. Because that's what leaders who maga loves do.

Seriously though, it's amazing how quickly things for the voter can get done when that's a leader's focus.

3 months ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 0

it would be absolutely hilarious if he announced plans to build a ufc arena somewhere ridiculous in midtown like Bryant Park and how much it would cost the city and say how great it would be and when everyone says how stupid the idea is he's just like yeah i know isn't it such a waste of resources to do that only the most idiot leaders would actually approve that!

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I thought this was going to degenerate into some kind of "Mamdami donated a kidney to my son" or something.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Uggg, this DEI, is just using fake news and wokeness to lure you all into the false hope of communism!!!!! Doing good things for people will end very badly/s

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That point about small, low level and quick communication of achievements.
You know, local press used to fulfil that role. A couple of articles on "Mayor opens x,y,z", "such and such road will be closed between these dates while its being repaved" et etc.
Its that kind of communication thats been lost over the last 30 years due to the collapse of local news.
Chalk another one up for social media /s

3 months ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 0

I'm not 100% sure what percentage of comment that '/s' is supposed to refer to, so I will just say "Telecommunications Act of 1996" and not much else as I don't want to say something based on false presumptions

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But surely Sinclair broadcast group is getting the word out on Mamdani's accomplishments!

3 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

they posted non stop on whitehouse.gov and white house social media. noone cared to look. Poster literally says there was a reddit about it they happened upon. Infuriating that it's meaningless to people unless they're forcefed it.

3 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

Theres something about Madahrni's teams approach that IS working though.
The /s about social media is kinda underscored by your points that white house social media didn't cut it.
It has to be specific, direct and framed in a relevant way.
Tweets (or whatever their called now 🤮) simply dont work

3 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure they were talking about nyc mayor's youtube re:videos, which whitehouse had under biden as well, they just didn't care about biden's work to check it

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

#5 is weird because AFAIK the Biden administration was quick to claim credit for a lot of things. It's just that their posts didn't go as viral as Mamdani's did.

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hell yeah

3 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

It's amazing what can happen when the people with money are made to pay for things instead of raising taxes on the people who have nothing.

3 months ago | Likes 124 Dislikes 0

And despite their dumbass threats, the rich people are absolutely not going to flee New York to avoid taxes, because being rich in New York is a thousand times better than being slightly richer somewhere with low taxes and they know it.

3 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Josh Johnson has a great but about this. Basically, Mamdani walked in has just got the "care" button which any politician could have done at any time.

This is the most fun you can have with leftists is going over the many many accomplishments of the Biden Administration. Just to watch leftists get more angry at you since they base their personal value on their purity as a leftist instead of being a functional adult that likes to have a government.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 22

Go away you annoying fly. D

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is a weird statement to make

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"I like trolling people with my own personal brand of ignorance."

Good for you. Hope you have a really shitty year. Bye!

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't think any leftist would deny that Biden did some really good things. He was just absolute shit at a lot of other really important things, chief among them being his refusal to identify and respond to the threat of The MAGA right.

I, too, like having a government, which is why I'm so angry at the gerontocracy controlling the Democratic Party for letting Trump destroy it. They keep the opposition feckless and feeble and look at where that's gotten us.

3 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I've had several say that to my face holes, as you are currently doing right now.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That seems a silly thing to write among a collection of comments praising Mamdani for getting things done and not dithering over trivia.

3 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

See? Here's one.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 15

"Speaking as a centrist, I want things to be absolutely mediocre. Primarily because I base my political views on propaganda-stoked fear of the left."
- Zeddicuszull, probably

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"I like to have a government that actually does things instead of virtue signaling constantly. Which means having the capacity to write and pass legislation, which only Democrats can do and to which leftists attack them on." - me.

How you cannot celebrate policy victories whatsoever on the part of Democrats is proving my point. You just want to virtue signal.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Centrists often say leftists make the "good" an enemy of the "perfect".
This is the first time I've seen the "perfect" being made an enemy of the "good".

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You aren't perfect, remember? That's the point. People who only care about their virtue, as you're doing, are useless eaters that are getting in the way of actual real progress.

Take this weird obsession you have with labeling someone who disagrees with you as a centrist. You did that to make yourself feel better. It's a vibe, whereas, your behavior is more aligned with how conservatives behave than an functional adult does.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

If you're not reading anything I write, then you're only engaging to annoy people. Bye.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hes the poster child to show how it can be- thats why they tried so hard to make him lose. They spent 10s of millions that we can see and probably more we couldnt. They were scared and rightly so as it shows them for the robber barons they are.

3 months ago | Likes 356 Dislikes 1

They will keep trying to make him look like a fool, look corrupt, look unethical.

3 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Imagine spending millions to prevent fixes, rather than just... fixing things??

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They're totally gonna assassinate him.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I will add, despite the warnings every taxpaying millionaire would abandon the city if he won, didn't happen. So, just maybe, the rich will put up with more taxation/etc than they claim.

3 months ago | Likes 92 Dislikes 0

They will put up with it when the alternative option is an angry and hungry lynch mob…

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A few will almost certainly leave, but in most cases those are only the ones that moved to NYC due to some very specific monetary incentive, usually significant tax breaks of some kind. Most rich people were either born there and have local family and friends there, moved there for their business, or moved there for the culture. None of those people will leave just because it got a little more expensive because uprooting their live isn't worth the hassle for that.

3 months ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Just a Tantrum, because in the end, the city will be much better to live in. Cities don't care if you're rich, af some point, you're going to relax when you shouldn't. There's a sidewalk with people between you and your car. We're not talking about gated communities here.
The best life is *public*.
Most of them cry but they aren't willing to give up on their creature comforts.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Tax paying millionaire is an oxymoron, no?

3 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Absolutely not. "Millionaire" is a much easier bar to clear than you think.

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No. Millionaires , and even billionaires still do pay a lot of taxes. Not proportionally, but in absolute dollars. Occasional years where they lose more than they make are “no income tax” years, which is also kind of bullshit, but it really isn’t the case that the rich pay NO taxes routinely.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not anymore apparently

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Keep raising taxes until they do leave.

Call it neighbourhood beautification.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And if they do leave, they have to sell their multi-million-dollar penthouses to someone. They don't just get to return them.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember the Democratic establishment tried to quash his campaign too. They're very much part of the "they"

3 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yep. Mamdani makes people believe they can have better things instead of voting Dems vecause the GOP is insane. It's such a low bar to clear, they don't even have to work for it.

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The devil i know vs the devil i know is definitely a racist.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Racist attacks came from the Dem establishment too lol

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes but by and large they are held accountable.
