This is why I use cloth bags. They get folded and stacked before we move on.
BDSMThroatHugs
Wrapping paper is moronic, do not wrap or put in a reusable bag or box.
FireSolvesProblems
The rule for us was we had to clean up the paper & boxes before we could play with our presents. The job got done very fast.
algavinn
Nothing like getting yelled at while opening your presents because each tear of paper must IMMEDIATELY go in the bag as it's removed.

Repost - don't have the member's name. As a Dad we have duties every Christmas. Here are 2.

You make a big mess of paper for the pets to play in. But then dads want to pick it up within like 3 minutes of finishing.
Captaintippie
We just throw ours at whoever is is the sucker that sat closest to the fireplace
carriedeservedbetter
For real though
AdventureBat
dads WATCHING everyone throwwrapping PAPER on THEFLOOR - evenTHOUGH he put a garbagebag DOWN - topreventhis.

you meant MOM
The3rdwheel
my parents avoided this very early on growing up by just putting our presents in gift bags .. reused every damn year lol
AnthonyBlumpkins
Nah, my dad was on top of this. He'd have the bag ready, and if you dropped paper he'd be on you to toss it to him.
reddenbocker
Proper Dad: "Now before you open those presents. If you throw that paper on the floor, the gift goes with it. Have fun!"
somnif
We usually make a paper pile for the dog to play with. But this year someone wrapped a bunch in Glitter Paper. No pile for the pup now.
HelpfulCorn
My dog eats paper so that would be a no go for us!
Peffse
It's holiday tradition to hit dad with the wadded up wrapping paper from every. single. gift.
Beege19
Same! He's 83 and we still do it.
ThatQuietlySmirking
Nah, you gotta ball that shit up and bounce it off the head of the youngest person in the room.
djangojazz
I stopped doing that years ago. I just get the 20 or 30 gallon bag ready once they change rooms.
MioTaalas
What barbarians throw them on the floor? WTF?
SecondSince
Bah. We always go nuts with unwrapping and THEN get a garbagebag for a 5 minute clean up wrapping paper frenzy! It's a tradition! XD
NeutralForest
I keep the mf on me and all wrappings go immediately in. My kids know the deal, trash your paper before you move on.
misteragi
No Dad has ever done that in my presence.
pumper
Don't even wrap the presents, why generate unnecessary garbage?
TellusEidolon
You don't re-use wrapping paper year after year? Are you just tearing it off like doomguy tearing demons apart?!
Depends on how much sticky tape was used. Sometimes it's impossible to unwrap without destroying the paper.
SarcasticComment
the same gift bags have been alove in my family since the 90s. we've even passed them from house to house. a better way overall
RatBits
My husband's family did this, too! At least, it was common between his mom and aunts. You'd see the same boxes/bags year after year.
thesmelge
Thats the exact reasoning why I'll never have kids. Why generate garbage?
wandermanspacebot
Garbage genes, eh?
Nothing good could ever come from me, so better not inflict that on children.
You and me both. ;) Too many physical and mental health problems, myself.
EdwardLongshanks
Dads don't think of that; moms do. This is the dad face after he installed fresh batteries and the kid leaves the toy on and walks away.
Khandash
That's my dads job to pick up the wrapping paper
ThaWhiteRanger
When you buy your kid a toy and Christmas day is the first and LAST time they play with it because it's not fucking Roblox or Fortnite
My grandmother was the one that did that because she re-used the wrapping paper every year until it couldn't be used anymore.
RaftinHippy
I'm not a dad, but I do this. I'm also ocd though
Rookvlees
You didn’t have gay dads, apparently. The presents were fabulous, but it’s kitchen rules on Christmas: clean as you go
hitdog42
My dad most definitely was the one to get the trash bag
DakotaWolf
This dad does and I make that exact face when they throw their FING WRAPPING PAP- .... sorry lost my cool for a second

I love a good 3 to 4 mil bag, although probably not necessary for paper
VodkaReindeer
Do your peeps rip the paper into multiple pieces or what? I can't imagine there being a lot trash if it's just one per present.
PimpinKen
My dad always made us do it. But for us (and him) just throwing the paper willy nilly was part of the fun. It also gave us a reason to take>
