Ball under car is child's play, now kicking over the grumpy neighbours fence was the really scary one.

I left the croquet kit laying in the driveway once (Concrete balls, wood mallets, metal wickets). Mom back the 78 Olds 98 out of the garage right over it.. stopped when she realized she was on something.. pulled forward and shot a concrete croquet ball down the street like it came out of a cannon. We never found it . Man, I wish we had smart phones to catch video back then.

Give a dog a tennis ball, and you can relive those days by getting the ball out from under the couch.

Lucky child… School brought me a lot of stress, the health of my beloved grandparents, the marital tensions of my parents and so many other childhood worries. Even if they may seem insignificant, these concerns were no less worrying for me on my level.

I miss my ability to bounce back and laugh and feel carefree, but I don't miss that life. I'm thankful I don't remember my actual childhood problems, but based on my older years and the people who surrounded me (and some stories), I'm quite sure I had bigger and more fucked up problems than a ball under the bed. I just had the youthful ignorance to not know what my real problems were.

It is still your only problem if you ignore all others

But it was never the only problem... There was also homework, studying for exams, piano practice, bullying, trouble making friends, ridicule due to niche interests while also not having the means to follow those, general trouble due to lack of discipline, parental disappointment, hiding your orientation from homophobic peers etc.
